Hey,

I have a problem, someone on my server said in the chat: "~ Crash server in 5 seconds ~". First I thought this is a joke, but after 5 secinds I saw the other side. My server was down. I had to restart the dedicated.exe. Now I have 2 Questions:

• How the fuck they made this, or how to prtoect?

• It's possible to make an auto-restart of the server?

well,it would not be script cause that only works on serverside so must be hack\mod.how to protect i dont think that DC knows of this yet so no protection unless you use a script kinda like a cuss blocker

There are more possibilities:
1. He spammed your server with useless information.
2. He hacked you (shouldn't be this one, is very hard)
3. He found an exploit/bug. If you still have the log files, you could send them to us. (But check if there are any passwords in them and delete them xD)

Auto Restart is possible, there are more ways to do this:
1. Cronjobs (but I haven't found any programm for windows to do so)
2. There was a tool anywhere in this forum which automatically restarted your server... but I don't know where it is...

There was one server restarter on cs2d files misc, but someone deleted it.

Skip, I guess he spamed with say command, Its posible becouse of your say color script. (Maybe he was one of admins?)

On windows you can create a bat-file with this content:

:loop
cs2d_dedicated.exe
goto loop
This auto-restarts the server

On linux you should be able to do the same with shell scripts

Is it possible that you can only receive one message per second, because they come all in the same frame, I think.

Its the same IP, I had same problems with huge server lag with these.
There is no way out, just try to ban IP's of them.

I dont know if its him but he found other ways to crash servers he told me, but ofc i cant tell his Name... why should i btw when hes very very helpfull and Admins here give me "Spam-Points" while they dont even help me with my Map (i worked on this Map 1 Day and it wont load..)

Same string "~ Crash server in 5 seconds ~". I even counted down to 5 for fun because I didn't believe it and after 5 seconds... crashed.

I did have server logs deactivated on the attack. FFS!
But Skipper's log explains it all, I think. So I agree with the DoS theory.

If I counted right, there are 73 "unkown or damaged" or "unexpected" messages in just one second from the same IP in his log.

I also wrote DC this problem, but he can't help me.

Anyway, I will launch my server today , maybe I will catch him somehow.

√ I suggest to use "ONLY USGN" on servers for now
