4. Cookies And Local Storage

This website uses cookies to store settings, login data (if selected when logging in) and for sessions.

All of these cookies are technically necessary and therefore do not require the user's consent. A lifespan of 90 days is set for the cookies. If the user does not visit the site for 90 days, their browser automatically deletes the cookies.

In addition, the website uses the browser's local storage (localStorage) to cache unsent form drafts (e.g. forum posts, comments, file uploads and edits) so that they are not lost. These drafts are stored exclusively on the user's device and are not transmitted to Unreal Software until the form is submitted. The user can delete individual drafts at any time via the drafts overview or remove all data by clearing their browser data.

It is possible that third-party functions store additional cookies. These functions are marked accordingly and must be activated explicitly.

5. Encryption

To protect the data, it is sent via HTTPS with TLS encryption. Unreal Software uses certificates issued by Let's Encrypt for this purpose.

6. External Hosting

The site is hosted by the external service provider Strato AG. This means that all data is stored on the servers of this service provider. The servers are located in Germany. The data is stored in compliance with the GDPR. Hosting via a third-party provider with a secure data center is essential for secure and fast operation of the site (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR and Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR). An order processing agreement with Strato AG is in place.

6.1. Backups

Backups are stored with the external service provider Backblaze, Inc.. The servers are located in the EU and all backups are stored with strong encryption in compliance with the GDPR. Backblaze does not have access to the keys and therefore cannot access the unencrypted data. Backblaze provides a public order processing agreement.
