Hello, I was wondering if there was a chance we could implement a new weapon or a skin system into the game.
Yes I understand the point of modding but some mods don't work as well (since skins mod are essentially dead). If I offend you (regarding DC) I sincerely apologize, but this is a simple request for the community.

I once considered adding a "Custom Skins" engine to CS2D, but I ran into some issues that made it difficult to implement. The main problem is that the cs2d lua cmd image function in CS2D doesn’t support creating images on the "player layer." It only allows modes like floor, top, super top, etc., but none of these work like the player layer.

For example, a custom skin should be covered by walls and weapons, while other elements should appear below the skin. Achieving this specific layering is tricky. Additionally, I faced problems with the player’s shadow, which also caused conflicts with the custom skin system.

It would be great if user DC could add this feature to the game, along with a proper "weapon layer" as well. This would open up more possibilities for customizations and improve the flexibility of mods in CS2D.

I would suggest adding skins that EVERYONE could see, not just the player.
Problem is it does take a buttload of code to write that, so....

Nothing is planned, but there is no way to having custom_weapons.cfg file that contain all required and available settings for each weapon to send it to client. Once he loaded it he can use it on server(or self) due it to being open source. This must use specific pattern, no following one cause never loading this cfg file again.
