Hello everyone.

My name is Edi. In the competitive scene they know me under the name "Edi".

I am here because I have a problem regarding my good friend Gosu (Im sure everyone knows him as he plays daily). Hes very addicted to cs2d. In one month hes managed to play 185 mixteams.

See for yourself:

https://www.directupload.net/file/d/6039/baxrbaqd_jpg.htm

A mixteam is a 5vs5 fow match played by competitive players from cs2d. 1 mix takes like 30min. If you calculate you will know how much time he spent playing 2d only in that month.

So now my questions are:
1. Is cs2d really this addicting?
2. What can I do to help him treat his problem?

Maybe DC can respond himself @user DC: , with all his Experience he has, he surely has the right tip which will change my best friends future for the good.

Thank you!

Edi

@user Edi:

Yes, best game I've played in my life.

2. What can I do to help him treat his problem?
You should contact a psychiatric hospital and report the situation if is a bad case.
Hope they can treat the gosu addiction, gl to him.

Take the following actions as soon as possible (His life is in danger):
> Consult guidelines for screen/video game use, such as those suggested by the AAP or the American Psychological Association.
> Model healthy use of screens and video games.
> Monitor your friend's (gosu) and his quality of screen time. Educational programs can be beneficial and increase interest in learning.
> Observe gosu for behavioral and mood changes associated with screen/video game use and make appropriate adjustments.
> Create structured times free of screen/video game use, such as during mealtimes, in the mornings and before bedtime.
> Find him something else in life to put him away a little bit from CS2D.

TWO BEST SOLUTIONS: End it up by banning him, or hire a hitman to murder him.

Let's do the math first:
185 * 30m = 5550m
5550m / 60 = 92.5h
92.5h / 30 days (in nov.) = 3.08 h

That's a bit more than 3 hours per day (on an average). That's quite a lot but still acceptable and not necessarily a serious issue. It's his personal decision in first place.

It may however become a real issue if he doesn't manage to do his everyday tasks properly because of playing CS2D. Talking about things like job/school/taking a shower here. So if that's the case you should try to make that fact more obvious to him by telling him about it. Maybe he didn't notice himself or doesn't want to accept that he has a problem. If that doesn't help do a web search for addiction hotlines or chats or whatever. First step however is - and that's something he must do - to accept and acknowledge that there is a problem.

Again: There's not necessarily a problem. I can't tell from the information you shared. I'm just a guy developing games and not a psychologist. Professional help my be required in case he really has a serious addiction.

I can confirm, gosu does nothing and only plays CS2D all day long. When he's unable to find some players to play with, he starts to play with bots. Really serious topic, I wouldn't even guess CS2D can be so addicting

I remember playing 6-10 hours a day from 2008 to 2014. Then I took a break for several years, and in January 2016 I got a break forever.

Something similar with ...C-4... (12 dots on both sides) when it was original. Almost everyone on the leaderboard played with cheats or/and on maps that allows to get more score by killing idle bots.

Constantly tell him he is addicted, has a problem and should pay more attention to your meaningless talk, or listen to the news. If he doesn't comply to your full statisfaction try to make a case with some shady medical professional personal with only his best interessts at heart and get him forcefully brainwashed or tortured in one of their facilitys. Hope I could be of assistance to your view on the situation

I knew this guy we used to play Happy Town back in the day...
Don't bother with him he's a lost soul, we once tried to hold an intervention by locking him in the clinic in Iran Town, but he just kept denying he had a problem and ended up murdering everyone (including the harmless brazilians), eventually we drove him out and now he plays mix matches only, where they enable addicts like him
