CS2D General Initializing map export + res Initializing map export + res
10 replies Hey,
I've a problem when I join a server, the screen reads "initializing map export" and when it's finished I DO join the server but it's frozen, players aren't moving, can't buy from the shop though I can move and the timer runs. Any ideas?
Also, what's with those black borders at the top and bottom of my screen while I'm in game? It happens everytime, windowed, full-screen, maximized etc.

Note: Also happens in fullscreen and any kind of resolution from the launcher
Note2: My monitor res is 1280x1024

I highly recommend to disable the radar mode "Advanced - Detail". It generates a map preview on each map load which is slow and apparently even fails in your case.
Options Game Radar
Use "Advanced - Simple" instead.
Regarding the borders: Because you are probably not using a 16:9 resolution. So the game shows borders instead of stretching everything. http://imgur.com/FSy8AwN
-while in 1280x720 (16:9)
Edit: What I'm trying to achieve is to see the game on the whole monitor like I used to in the older versions. Buy yourself a 16:9 monitor then

The image you posted is 1280x909. So I assume that the actual resolution is 1280x900 which explains the borders.
Your native monitor resolution is NOT 16:9 so you will probably always see borders in fullscreen.
You can however use windowed mode to see the game in a window without borders. Just use Launcher.exe So there's nothing to do? Mind if I ask but what was the problem that you removed the old resolution configuration? Can't these both co-exist?
I'd play how I used to and wide monitor players'd play with the actual settings. DC Admin Offline
You mean you want the 640x480 / 4:3 resolution back WITHOUT stretching/borders? In theory that would work but it would be a huge disadvantage for you because you would see 210 pixels less. This means you wouldn't see enemies on the left and right side in an area of 105 pixels each (that's over 3 tiles) while they would already see you (if they use 16:9).
As a side note: We are living in 2017. The vast majority of all users has 16:9 screens by now. So for the vast majority the change is highly beneficial. For the others it still works fine. You just get black borders - that's what the majority saw as well before the update. So ultimately what we did is that we optimized the game for the majority so overall WAY less people see borders/stretching. Oh, ok thanks for your time. Guess I have to try to get used to it. Yes, it seemed very important so I fixed it with the priority.
