The most simple of all questions: Would you create or/and upload more maps of you could simply upload a map via a website and it would be playable within seconds?

Please share your thoughts; and if you answered yes or maybe, reply with what you would like to see with such a system. For example: Online map viewing.

And if not; explain. Tell me why.

Some servers in TrackMania have a way for users to upload maps. They have a voting system (-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3) where players can vote how much they like the map. Maps with very bad votes automatically get deleted. I think something like that would be quite fun in cs2d aswell

C4 server used that technique, they also allowed the Lua scripts upload and had checks to prevevent people from abusing it. I.E. a script which would give a certain USGN a lasor/super armor would get declined by the system, I tried doing that. Never tried to do so with compiled code, though.

My opinion is yes, I would love such feature. Would also be awesome if uploaded content would get moderated.

This way severs, players and even maps would gain a rating without people having to download anything. Seeing as the servers and players would have a rank displayed on the website. And the maps can be played on the server.

The map upload page was and idea, but seeing as people might want it - and its quite nice for people that can't host themselves we can easily include it.

Please keep posting, along with further ideas for the map upload. We've thought about the server and player ranking system so please don't go off-topic about that - stick to the map upload page. If you really want to post about the ranking system - PM me.

Yeah it'll be awesome but look at c4. Players add their own maps which is completely hazardous to other players and it somehow gets voted all the time. I believe Ohaz's idea should counter this including a map report page where mods could go over them.

I'm in for a yes.

Features to go with that should be a list of the maps, their details, (ratings, how many times played, etc) and other various options on a maps page.


You're going to need a nice and stable server(and VPS) for all this. o.o
