So here is some food for thought for you guys. I know that 90% of this place is filled with kids who can only talk about games, but I hope that the remaining 10% actually reads this.
Just sharing this; debate me if you want to, I will be happy to do it; prove me that life has a point.

Me has written
Now that you think about it, we all become old. Helpless. Useless. A burden for those who care about us, or at least pretend to care. All that we do is lost; or lives on, but without us. We can't move ourselves, we can't feed ourselves, we go insane.
And then we die; without knowing what will happen to us, where we will go.
We don't manage to do what we want to do, we don't manage to create what we want to create (all that we want to do, all that we want to create). And if we do - life loses its meaning. No point to live; too scared to die.

Me again has written
Suicide isn't a sin; it is a way of preventing yourself from commiting more sins.

How did religion get here? has written
If we base ourselves on religion, suicide can be excused, as the church claims that God has power over all and everything. And everything that happens - is God's will. Therefore, suicide is God's will; while the church (and the Bible) says otherwise, otherwise as in, suicide is a sin.

But what if... has written
...if we base this idea on the ideals of deism, God has no or little power over what happens with us after birth.
Therefore, it is safe to assume that he doesn't care about what we do with our life.

Tom Yates has written
But Alex, how can we know on what we should base it?

Why am I including this? has written
The ability to comprehend and make decisions is one of the greatest things God has given us. Decisions can be different. I have chosen deism as my form of faith, as I don't take church as the representative of God, and the Bible as the word of God.

Now I know why I have included this; in response to Yates' question, I said that God has given us the ability to make decisions. Therefore, we know (or can guess) what we should base our ideas on.

... only hurts the feelings of those who like you.

Or those who pretend to like you, as they think that it is necessary, as they fear being shunned by the community for not liking and caring about someone near to them.
But would they really like you if you became an insane, tyrannic, old man, who'd hate everyone to compensate his desperation, that comes from the realization of him becoming old and slipping into madness, with hate and bile?

All right.

I cannot bring myself to use the term "sins" seriously. That doesn't mean I'm okay with committing suicide. I disapprove of it because no person has ever ended their life while in a clear state of mind. Therefore it is no different from death by any other cause such as mental illnesses or simply mental instability. People that do consider killing themselves should seek assistance because they have lost their ability to reason, due to whatever circumstance, and are unable to decide for themselves.

Also you cannot decide to commit suicide in advance. It's impossible unless you extirpate half of your brain beforehand.

The way you instantly assumed that atheists are indifferent to the issue of committing suicide is totally inappropriate. Do something about that before trying to engage in intelligent "debates".

Life isnt a gift. It's something we born with and without life we are nothing. You cant gift something that isnt alive.

It is a gift of God.

@user Time: Or he views his life as pointless. Either because of the realization of the impossibility of the achievement of his goals (that is a lot of "of the"'s) or because of the realization of him already achieving everything he wanted to be.

I would also like that add that you assume stuff far too often and even base some of your statements on half baked or otherwise ridiculous assumptions.

In my opinion, god made us to be with him (as he was the first one to exist, he needed to have his own creations).

But we are not in heaven with him because we needed a place to learn, Earth. So if we're success we just go to heaven, however if we fail we find hell.

On topic: If there's no point of life... then I think the science made us because it was possible to have life in this planet, what we do with it depends of our will.

They are indifferent towards suicide in a religious sense. You understand very well what I meant, yet you still try to accuse me of something.

Please, direct me to the posts where I have done that. Or even better, don't, it won't contribute to the topic.

I'm going to drink bleach. It's not a bad action.

I will paraphrase that. What does the suicide of an individual (unimportant one as well) have to do with this topic?

Atheists are different. But the saying of one atheist can be used to counter what you said. You should be careful with words, Time.

The point of life is living from my point of view, you aren't born for a task or to do something specific, you decide what to do with your life, you choose your religion, you can do (allmost) everyting (thats possible of course).

What have atheists to even do with the topic? Just ask people's opinions on suicide, no religious bullshit in it.

Religion has a lot to do with it. According to the bible it is a sin to commit suicide. This can well take part in someone's opinion/being brain washed.

The questions here should not have been introduced to this community as 2% of the 10% are ever online.
