I found this really cool article about a great advance in robot tech. The article can be found here.

Some scientists at Cornell University wrote the algorithm. The algorithm assigns tags/labels to different objects (walls, floor, tables, etc.). The robot can then be programmed to find a specific object.

Sounds great!
Self: "Go and fetch me a beer"
Robot: "Certainly."

sounds cool bro. i want to see a robot wich acts like a little stupid animal. like a frog or something. with a own little machine brain and he can feel and can make own decisions and learns by himself. and maybe get kids after connecting with a female robot. or whatever

Although you are most definitely right, majority of the work is done by undergrads. Haha.

I've seen lots of these robots and it's really making me curious. I got great ideas to add to these robots, a speech recognition system (audio input), speech system (audio output), a learning ability system (memory), a interpretation system (memory). This will lead to that the robot will automaticly detect objects and uses all it's senses to determine what type of options the robot has when it comes to using or viewing the certain object.

Adding a audio system for the robot will enable a open dialogue with the robot. The robot can be told to do a action and the action can be cancelled at any time just by telling it to "stop", "cancel activity" or similar. It's amazing what technology has brought us, this is one of the best inventions ever created.

We'll see, so far the robots is just capable of basic things. But maybe within some years they'll be able to do much more and therefor become useful in homes, offices, and so forth. These robots are the most awesome thing that has happened humanity.
