Yes its right. I am working on a 12000x12000 image, and will make the sunlights, stars, etc. on it. Then just add it to cs2d with a REALLY slow spinning. What do you thing? Will it fail because its too big and the image downloading will be slow?

an image with 12000x12000 pixels is not a good idea. some older video cards will probably not even be able to load this monster. and of course the transfer will take far too long and will be skipped on most clients (because the file will surely be bigger than 200 kb which is the default size transfer limit)

Yes DC, you are probably right. It would be too big so players who want to play would have to download it from a web page.
btw the default setting is 250 kb isnt?

DC i agree with you 12000x12000 dont have got even crysis and it is best graphic made game in the world. Underavarage PCs like my old with 448mb ram and 1.8 ghz procesor would crash instantly.

Cs2D dont need any graphic updates i like it really mutch. There is just several things what should be fixed and some glicthes and bugs but i think it is allready like final version

we talk about an image, nur about gaming resolution.

If people have brains, they would:
1. Write mods that wouldn't require other people to have brains.
2. ???
3. PROFIT!!!

Also, if the image is a decompressed 24-bit (the smallest that CS2D supports, unless you axed two channels to get to 8-bit, then we just divide the result by 3) running at 12000x12000 resolution, we would get

12000^2 * 24 / 8 / 10^6 = 432 mb ~= 0.5 gb. If this is indeed the light map, then you're definitely doing something wrong.

Just use a PNG image with transparency all over. The file size would be a lot smaller this way. As the default background is black you shouldn't have problems with the 'nocturne' area.

PNG files is big..

They are COMPRESSED! It isn't very hard to know stuff dude. It is a great idea though, it rotates and shows different levels of trancparancy. I thought about that a while ago but it need not be huge, all you have to do is make it at around 512x512, and then size it up on map. 512x512 is pleny of roon, once it has been sized to fint the entire map, it will look great! Clever idea

PNG uses DEFLATE compression and a filtering compression methods based on pixel prediction.
This makes it perfect for getting rid of redundant data, just what we need. However, maybe there will be problems drawing such a huge image on slow computers

If DC implemented stuff like sprite entity isn't drawn if it's not on the screen.
Then it's better to split up that image into some parts, so there won't be any problems to draw it.
