Ok , this is ridiculous.I bought a brand new video card of ATi Radeon HD 5700 and games who are as big as stranded in megabytes lagg.I can't play newer games becouse they have a similar problem either.

I just can't explain one thing to myself ; how can ATi sell this load of garbage called video cards and promote them being so cool with direct x 11 and stuff , when you can't play crap.
It cost is of 214 frigen dollars , which i think is absolutely preposterous.

I think this was the last time i buy any ATi card.I am through with them , and their techy piece of bullcrap .

So , what do you guys think .. which of them has better videocards ..

No.
ATi's drivers suck on linux, but ATi cards are cheaper and use to get better FPS than similar Nvidia cards.

@Lenz:
You're having some compatibility/driver problems.
Download the latest catalyst drivers for your card and set it up using catalyst's control panel.

only very few games are optimized for ATI.

my geforce8800 (nvidia) seems to be better than my (much more expensive) HD 4870 X2 in Crysis for example. that's ridiculous but it's the truth.

Well, when it comes to budget gaming, ATi is better, but Nvidia is way more powerful and has been leading the market for quite a while. I have 3 rigs where i live. My coding/server rig, which is the most expenisve, but come on, 2 Xeon proccesors are all you will ever need for servers. Next I have my general purpose rig. This is the rig which I have Fedora and Windows XP on. I use it to browse the web, play smaller games etc. Then I have my ultimate gaming rig, which cost me a fortune ( hence why i have to save up a little to buy Blitz3D ). It has a BIOSTAR TA890GXE motherboard, 8GB RAM, Phenom II x6 1005T at 4.5 Ghz. And now what you have been waiting for, my graphics card. Nvidia Geforce GTX 480. It's my pride and joy. Infact i have a picture of it on the fridge ( Seriously ). Although I may remain in debt for extremely long ( probably only gonna have paid it back by June 2011 ), it's worth it in terms of Crysis, Mass Effect 2, Bad Company 2 and many others. So yeah, Nvidia is the way of the future, I mean the Tegra 2 is better than some ATi cards!
