[EngiN33R] Hold the Flag 
19 comments Hello, everyone. Today, I bring you a new game mode inspired by a post in the ideas thread. I'm not sure how the mode is called in CoD where the idea was (obviously) taken from, but I named it 'Hold the Flag'.
In this game mode, you have a neutral flag which both teams try to capture. You play until a certain limit of points, earning them for three kinds of different actions:
Holding a flag for 5 seconds earns you 10 points,
Killing the flag carrier - 2 points,
Even just capturing the flag gets you 1 point.
The amount of seconds and the amounts of points are fully customizable in the script file as variables.
This script has been done in 44 minutes. It could've been done in 30, but then I forgot some things.

Incidentally I did not sugesst that idea from CoD [not that obvious], it was taken from AssaultCube, a free FPS shooter which incidentally is also made by Germans :D.
Also this idea dates way back to late 1990s. CTF is older than 1950s so many variations were bound to turn up :o. The first known CTF PC game was a 1985 2D top down game very cleverly named "Capture the Flag".
Well nice script buddy :D. Didn't know that it was possible using Lua.
I need to learn Lua. >:O

You get X points for Y seconds you hold the flag, over and over again as long as you hold the flag.
You say it should be higher - then configure the values yourself, that's why they're configurable.
I made them higher because it could be exploited if it were otherwise - I could run up to my team mate, die in front of him, he'll pick up the flag, then I'll come up to him, he'll die, I'll pick up the flag, and so on.

Killing carrier points should be much higer then. Also capturing it.
Getting more points for holding it pr. sec than capturing it, makes capturing points useless.

Do you get points pr. second for holding the flag?
Is it 10 points pr. 5 sec, or only 10 points for the first 5 seconds?

Oh it sounds like Oddball found in the halo series, though I see you added some twists. Nice idea!
