Yesterday, i've been attack by ddosing kids until my servers was totally shut down. Why does DC or CS2D developement allow people to find the hosters ip-adress that easy?

I can just simply right click on the server on the server list and just simply copy the entire ip adress inclusive the port of the server. Can we remove that "showing all people hosting ip-adress" function?

I will not host again until my ip is not published free to all players

You aren't the only one who is getting ddosed.
I got been ddosed by some kids like SnK and Bus School and so on.
Also I have a list of ddosers here:
1# Bus School
U.S.G.N Name: Bus School
2# $eNn!n
U.S.G.N ID: 141262
IP: 112.198.99.175
3# SnK
U.S.G.N Name: SnK

[EDIT](After reading the whole post)
If people can't join the server by an IP...How do they play online?

Removing the IP address from the server list would not make any difference. Everything about connecting to anything revolves around an IP address, you cannot simply hide it or make it unknown to people. It's impossible.

1. Ridiculous if people cannot join a server by IP. If people can join a server by IP, it sounds ridiculous if you cannot see the IP of a specific server.

2. CS2D is not the only game that shows the IP address of servers.

3. Nobody really cares about whether you will keep hosting your server.

Get a better server and DDoS protection. Possibly call the police where the attackers come from.

@user Promaster: Interesting idea but as others already said: Hiding the IP addresses of servers probably does not help. It's very easy to obtain it anyway because it's part of the connection process and absolutely required internally. You can always just use a packet sniffing tool to see the IP addresses of all active connections. This is a thing which is very easy to do for everyone and without experience.

Simply removing it from the client would only lead to a bad user experience (you can't copy IPs to share them with friends). I would also have to get rid of the web serverlist. A lot of disadvantages for something which probably won't change anything.

In general trying to hide the IP is a very weak approach to protect a server from attacks. Smart firewall rules are certainly the best way to handle the issue.

The thing is, the ddos is not from private people, they just simply buy it from a booter website and they got like 50-200 gb/s. Its not that easy to protect against that amouth of package per second

It's impossible to hide your IP. Connections can't be established without knowing the IP. Just enter "netstat" in your cmd or open your task manager in windows. The IP will be shown there. Same goes for linux. No need for complex tools. It's easy as shit.

Hahaha.. 200Gbps my ass!
I bet it doesn't even reach 50Mbps.
Have you ever tried to use dstat to be sure you can't block that attack? Well if you can access ssh, obviously you still have some bandwidth left.
You know, if your server got DDoSed it doesn't mean your attacker had bigger bandwidth..

+++--------------------------+++
E.D.I.T
+++--------------------------+++

So to prove that attacker doesn't need bigger bandwidth then his target, I made simple video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgmPDo_robM

Additional information
• Loopback (lo, localhost, 127.0.0.1) interface has unlimited bandwidth.
• In video first i show that server can crash from small bandwidth (~22471packets/s | ~2000KB = 2MBs = 16Mbps).
And latter i showed that firewall could help against these shitstorms.
• All my videos are unlisted(hidden), where is no point to subscribe.

Some people can't do that...

Use tags like #555 for a certain IP
Something like that:
sv_replaceip <tag> and if I put 5 it will be #5.
It will also check if the tag is in use...

And then eventually people will make a tool to check the IP related to a "tag" and another thread will be made to replace or remove said "tag."

So how about no.

It doesn't matter what you replace it with or who replaces it, you can always resolve it back to an IP address. The idea is ridiculous, get over it.

If DC would do that, then DoSers primary target would be USGN.DE:36963 and bamm! Where is no server list, if you want connect you need IP:Port and you don't know any.
