Hi everyone. I would like to let you know I am the host of the cZ» servers.
One person continues to keep shutting down my servers because they do not like me. (I think)
They way they shut down my servers is by spamming it with text.
Its a bit hard to do considering I pay for hosting.
With high speed and non laggy servers.

Heres how they lagg out my servers.
Just by simple text.

Ah. I had that program once, it really just types for you. Pretty cool. Anyway, just use an anti spam lua.

Would an anti-spam Lua work? Isn't it that it only changes that the messages are not displayed? A Lua would mean calling the function hooked to 'say' a thousand times per second, which would probably crash the servers as well, right?

Btw, I thought there was a built-in flood protection in CS2D? (cs2d cmd mp_floodprot).

You're not the only one with the problem btw. I believe it's kossrifle doing all the shit (that's what I heard, at least. I also heard that Dolphin Power is undertaking some serious action against the guy).

Yes but you can automaticly ban or kick him, when he writes more than 30 Messages per minute or something else.

Ive banned this same person (IP+USGN)
And he still manages to get on.
I have tried a sub-net ban.
Still nothing.

Written messages and sended messages received per UDP by the dedicated servers are much different. This just should protect from broken messages with which you can flood too anyways.

lol. ive now banned 3 of his IP's and 2 of his USGN's.

BTW: The spammer, didnt have a USGN and had a Vietnam IP. (where heocon lives)

Why not ban the whole of Vietnam then?
It would work, but you will lose about 30 players that might come to the server.

Try FlooD's anti-spam it's really affective. If you find out the spammer is using dynamic ips just banrange (xxx.xxx.*).

If the spammer is using a vpn or any type of network proxy there is really nothing you can do--except for mp_floodprot which will ignore all packets from the user that is spamming--I don't recommend this because if your server is laggy it will actually ignore packets from your client. Your best bet is FlooD's lua--although you must have a good server it will protect against those attacks, if your vps is shity that lua won't work.

This attack is via chat--so remember to have a good lua that isn't server extensive on hook_say.
