a ladder (with center of mass at its middle) lies against a wall. the static coefficient of friction is uw between the ladder and the wall and ug between the ladder and the ground. the angle between the ladder and the wall is theta.

a) what is the maximum possible theta? in other words, what is theta when the ladder is on the verge of slipping?
b) for a given theta, between 0 and the maximum possible theta, calculate the forces on the ladder.

Wtf are grades anyway?

Oh and I'm Dutch, so maybe I'd know the answer when you'd write it in something like:

Ladder against wall = U,G,W (triangle)
The middle of the ladder is the center of weight.
U,G = Ladder-ground
U,W = Ladder-wall

1. What is the maximum ammount of degrees (360') the ladder could reach without falling

Well if you say the ladder against the wall == 0' and the ladder on the ground == 90', the maximum theta possible is 45', cause the middle of the ladder is the center of weight.

2. sorry I don't get that part

Here in Phillipines there is no GR.7 Nor 8. But if they're adding it WTF. other money will be spent because of that.

@user Alistaire: FlooD probably expects some sort of fancy formulas which return all forces on the ladder for each theta between 0 and max.

@user ULtiMa: I find that hard to believe. Maybe it's just called different in the Phillipines (like in Holland, grade 11 is called grade 5 here; we restart counting after 6 (which is called 8 here btw)). Children in grade six would usually be about 12 years old in the North American (and possibly a whole lot of other countries as well) system.

Here in Portugal, in grade 6 there are children from 10 to 11 years old.

We, in CZ have Grade 1 - Grade 9 (Grade 9 are 14-15 years old)
