Hmm, paths could be drawn using the brush tool in the map editor, just change the color of the ground.
Also, if you've been modding, you may know about two variables that can be applied to any object, item or unit (creature).
scale=
color=
Scale= will allow you to set the size of an object. It scales the model up or down to fit the requirements of the new object. For example;
scale=1.8
will make the object 1.8 times larger than the original model's size. Fiddle with it until it looks right.
Color= will allow you to set the color of an object. It uses three variables; Red, green and blue. Different values of these colors will allow you to cover a wide range of color in your objects. For example;
color=150,255,150
will bring out the green in a model by muting the reds and blues. The only thing that I believe you can't do is make the object brighter, but I may be wrong there.
Through the use of these two variables in your new objects, you can make at least some of what you've requested here by "recycling" the original models.
many with script ...you don't need any models then.
I tried this but you need to have quite high patient
and save freqently! [I lost my 64^2 map]
but i suggest you to register 3dXtras.com .
there are quite alot of models there. maybe that will satisfy you.

Like DKTS said, anywhere before script=start will work, but I like to keep them near the model= to keep things tidy.
use detailtex=gfx/the name of the picture
and BEFORE the script=start

Take a look at the crab, or the raptor. They both use this, I think. It's basically a bitmap skin that goes over the model.
