When i was at school, i had an idea to make a messanger fire. sense we cant have multiplayer and we cant do an mmorpg why not be able to draw NPCs to the island? Building this fire maybe with say 100 logs would draw some npcs to the island, like people who are sailing by! but sense the island has a rocky shore they crash. if you have a hut and some food prepared they move in and give you a cut of what they get! so say theirs a villager, he is collecting leaves,rocks and sticks also farmers of diffrent kinds! like a harvester plants grains if he has them( he plants half and gives half of the other half to you.) and people who plant trees. Also hunters who if you ask them for meat or hides! also a mill to make bread. this would let you have a castle system! even a kingdome system! if you dont have a house and some food prepaired the person wonders off into the woods and builds his own house, if you dont draw him back they beguin to take npcs for their own kingdome. if some one thinks this idea is good they can use it i am no good at scripting or modeling but im loaded with great ideas.

It's good and bad, it would take a huge amount of modeling and scripting, but mutiple players sound good. But then, there would be a lot of bugs and things that don't make sense. If you are "no good at scripting or modeling" then you won't attract helpers. I don't like it but it's the truth.
{Edit}
Also, the Kingdom and Castle systems might be a 'tite' too much, but a village like the one in the fourth level in the Adventure mode.
