Could anyone give me a useful location to catch the parrot? I've been trying to catch the blasted thing for 3 days and only 1 time ever saw one near the ground.

Actually my frustration level with this task is high enough that I would also accept a cheat to put the parrot in my inventory if one exists.

I have a save prior to picking the lock in case of the bug. Question on that bug though, does autosave when you sleep also break the script? If so, is there a way to turn off autosave?

when you've got one just wait until you see a parrot sitting around, then go towards him, but you mustn't get to close, or he'll flee, with the net your range is high enough to catch him from about ~3-4m

yes i have a net, have caught 50+ butterflies trying to find a blasted parrot, the red ones draw my attention all the time.

i have never seen a parrot on the ground, closest i have been is when they fly near the lion rock because they seem to fly lower to the ground through there and sometimes get stuck on a rock.

a couple posts mention waiting for spawn in morning but if the autosave breaks the script like a normal save then that won't work.


i just need to figure out this dang bird quest so i can leave the island. i have built at least one of everything, i have 3 camps on the island, both boats, i think i'm up to about 4 storage bins now full of food/plants from farming and the herb gardens.

everyday i give the pirate quest a try and everyday i have the same result, the only place i see parrots near the ground is between the lion rock and the water spring - sometimes they get held up by a rock and that's the only time i've ever been close to catching one. i have never seen one land on the ground and stop. typically i try to get on top of one of the hills and just start rotating watching for them.

I didn't, so there where about 20-30 parrots on the island, it only took me about 2 minutes to catch one.

It doesn't work standing on a hill, waiting for a parrot to get stuck, until you reach him, he is long gone, you've got to travell around.
And remember not to get to close to them, or They'll change their direction in order to flee from you.

I used cheat and found out that I can't make another spade for combination...

the nest is still on the island. before i trigger the pirate i tend to see about 20 parrots, but when i talk to the pirate all of the sudden there seem to be about 3 left. the closest i have come to catching one is to go on top of the hill nw of pirate and watch for some to head towards land then run to the pirate. they tend to fly through some trees and come near him. i've been within range of them using that tactic i think but they fly so fast it's hard to target them.

i did try sleeping to see if one would spawn near the nest but none did.

is there any way to just use the cheat scripts to trigger the next sequence with the pirate? if not, i guess it's time for me to delete this game off my computer. i really like the game but i've spent 50+ days on the first island and the last 20 i've made a new save and an attempt at the parrots with no luck.

I'm getting sick of just trying to get past this one point in the game and no one seems to have any working ideas on how to help me get past it. my planting is 400+ hunting is 100+ fishing is 100+ lumber is 50+.

i still have never seen a parrot stationary on the ground yet in this game so i'm not sure how else to get close to them other than learning their flight pattern and trying to intercept them.

press ^ then tipp cheat and press enter.
In the menu now opening choose the "execute script" thing and paste this line

$gotparrot = 1;

and execute it.
now just talk to the pirate and continue with the adventure.

If I recall correctly I think I saw somewhere you have to open the debug menu ( press the key next to the 1 (`))

Then type in the code box. Exactly like this:

Incskill "plant" ,500;

500 is the level.
plant is the skill.

It can be replaced with: plant,fish,hunt,wood,dig.

P.S. If this helps your welcome, if not I'm sorry but I'm bad at explaining things

P.P.S. If after you have entered the codes you can't get to your backpack (by pressing esc or x) then you should use a storage box then click character, then rucksack.

you can sleep near it and not get hurt, like when your in a shelter.

Brandon...do you mean that little sandbar thing beside the island? thanx for your help people because the raptors are starting to make me lose interest and up until now I have been rather addicted...
