I think you can't. They are always capped if I remember correctly. That's actually a great thing because it helps us all to waste less energy.

@user MaksDragon: You think it is just the matter of unlocking the FPS? You couldn't be far from the truth, but either way, its a 2D game... I don't know why you want 240Hz...

@user MaksDragon: Then again, you are talking about a 2D game. It's like saying, why there is no layer, svg support in Paint...

Most of the people can perceive only 30-60 fps on average with their eyes anyway.

Why does smoothness become pointless when it comes to 2D?

What? I definitely see a difference between 60 Hz and 120 Hz.

Because CS2D's network is not smooth enough to make any point there. It's not well optimized and even if the game would have an option, many things would need to be written to support 60 plus. So many people believe this is only a single setting, FPS is not just a limitation, animations, many things have to be ensured to have actual support for above 60Hz/FPS.

Here to ruin the party!

@user DC said that no new feature suggestions for CS2D will be accepted.

As I said, most of the people as in the average human being.
As someone who games for years you probably are more likely to notice the difference. Second, you just feel the difference because 120hz does feel more smooth in case of operating, doing tasks or making shots in cs(go) 2, yet you won't notice every frame on itself.

Yep, pretty sure that most people who play fast games would indeed notice a difference. I only have 60 Hz PC screens but I would guess that the difference is rather subtle.

user Mami Tomoe is right. I'm currently not working on new features and supporting a higher/no FPS cap wouldn't hava a very high priority for me either. 60 FPS is good enough for a 2D top down game like CS2D which is kind of casual and not made for highly professional matches. I don't deny that no cap would be better though. user Marcell is also right that this would take more effort than simply removing the cap.

I noticed a monstrous difference when switching from 50 to 60 FPS.

@user mrc: The difference gets larger the lower the number is.

10 - 20 FPS difference is much bigger than 100 - 110.

I've released a quick patch of CS2D with unlocked FPS, you can check it out in unrealsoftware discord CS2D channel if it doesn't get deleted, otherwise I'll probably upload the full launcher in my own discord server .gg/ranu.

It makes everything way smoother, however, may have a negative effect on hit registration (Networking), and the quick patch is without any limit so can cause your CPU to run at max and heat it up unless you limit CS2D FPS / CPU power using a third-party program. Reduces render latency by at least 15 ms, and for gamers this is a significant difference whether you have a 240 Hz monitor or 60 Hz doesn't matter.

I know all that and more. I was just trying to make a point about why would someone want 240Hz.

Sometimes it's just a question of "Because why not..??" instead of "Does it make any sense?"

@user DC: You shouldn't punish people who try to make the game better, if you don't want that aleast try to provide better updates.
