Remember that Linux was partially made so you could choose what you want on your system. I find installing any <insert letter>amp(p) on a Linux system quite laughable as you don't actually need it - if you want an application to do everything for you use Windows instead. Get out of Linux.

Why is it laughable? The name of the stack is abbreviated as LAMP. The way you install it is up to you. It has been proven that this combination of linux, apache, mysql and php works well and is newbie friendly. And no, most distrubutions don't come with apache pre-installed. If you rent a VPS from a webhosting service, then, probably yes, it's pre-installed.
