Ok, so, about 6 months ago I've bought this Western Digital's "My Passport Ultra" 1TB external HDD for about 100 euros. Luckily, it has 3 years warranty. So yesterday, I was downloading some big stuff (it's Debain & Mandriva OSes) with my drive plugged in some more powerful and faster PC (it's my friend's). So I was downloading, and PC just froze. I waited for an half an hour and decided to plug off my drive. PC came in action at once. When I plugged my drive IN again, PC couldn't find that drive. So I thought it just perhaps overheated and went to sleep. Now today, I came back home and plugged my drive in my PC. It couldn't find or recognize it. Hard drive has a light on it, but it makes clicking noises with some pauses. Oh my god, that's a death click So I googled much but couldn't find any valuable help information. I know it has failed. I can ask shop to change it but my data would be lost. It was overall about 300 gigs. How could I retrieve that data? I haven't got much money to give to someone company to retrieve it. It just... sucks, ya know
Would appreciate any help, just don't post google links, only if you fount some really helpful, or something, that helped you.
Thanks!..

Judging from your problem, your only choice is to take your external HDD to a hard drive recovery specialist. If your device still has the warranty, then don't hesitate to contact the services. You cannot fix this issue alone since you have to open the drive and thus leading to the void of your warranty (and you might even break badly your device if you don't do the steps carefully!). Not forget this must be done in a dust-free environment, so ye...

The good thing is, you'll learn (hopefully) your lesson that backups are always worth for your valuable data in two devices at the same time. Don't treat these as reliable storage because they aren't.
