You can add friends to your XFire Buddies and they'll show up in your XFire list whenever they're online or playing an XFire-supported game.
XFire supports TONS of games, including CS2D of course ;), in fact, I've only seen two games so far that aren't XFire-capable, and they're relatively new.
XFire has patches of later games such as WoW, as well as some full downloads, though some downloads from XFire MAY be outdated... I tried to download Gunbound World Champion from there and it was about 7 versions behind
But for the games it DOES support, it's pretty good. If you see someone is playing CS2D (or another game) on a server, in most situations you can click a "Join Game" button in XFire and it will automatically load the game and connect to the server.
Only thing is that you need to look out for undetected games. Just because a game doesn't get detected by the XFire Game Detector doesn't mean it's not XFire-compatible. I had to manually set up CS2D. Look in the "Not Installed" list under the Options menu > Games tab if you have a game that wasn't detected, you'll need to browse for the game.
If you need any other questions you can ask, I've become pretty f'in familiar w/ XFire.
Oh yeah, one more thing, you can also chat using XFire
