@user Thug Life: The low quality file rule is not based on likes because there are many trolls who simply give likes for crap. So you don't even have to care about getting likes. It won't change anything. Moderators decide which files have a too low quality and I think they are pretty fair with that. Of course they can take a look at the likes and comments when they make their decision but they don't have to. They shouldn't give you a temp ban though but only remove the files. Unless you upload many bad files. Then a temp ban could be justified to give you time to improve your work before uploading stuff again.

You are right that this approach (simply removing stuff instantly) is a bit harsh. The current system does not support something like an automated warning system though. Moderators would have to keep track of such warning themselves which is unreasonable. There's definitely much room for improvement and I'll work on that when I find time for it.

In the new system nothing would be removed instantly without any warning. It would only get flagged. File owners would see their flagged files and would have enough time to react. Some flaggings might even hide the files from the archive until the problems are resolved by the file author and reviewed by a moderator.

But I guess this is going a bit too OT, sorry.

Not all, but it's not fair to get a temp ban just because you uploaded a file which doesn't reach more than 10 likes and 10 dls in one week and after that, removed from files archive. It's not possible to reach it in a week, in one month you can. Mods should ask us about our "poorly made files" if we can update it within a week or the file it'll be removed.

I usually start checking out all files that have 5 likes or less for removal. I don't rate it solely on likes though. Of course I check out ALL files when they're uploaded but it's pretty rare for a bad quality file to get many likes (and I'm thankful for that).
Speaking about your idea, just the other day, I deleted about 25 low quality maps (I usually delete them every 2-3 weeks but now I hadn't deleted for a couple months... sorry...). Do you have any idea how many messages I'd have to write just to notify everyone of their low quality file.

user DC's system sounds like it would make everything easier. I would also like it if other moderators deleted files too, not just the ones that break important rules.
