il be adding stuff to this whenever i have something cool to show
so if i make a new timelapse video, il link it here, if i start / work / finish a game/project il let you guys know that too.

iv been working with these Victorian assets in particular for about 2 months, but i put shit loads of time and energy over the last two weeks trying my best to improve the tileset this is made up of (basically every window, door, detail, ect.)

if your interested in my art, please do check out my 3d art channel where i time lapse the creation of a model (usually between 12 - 15x speed), as well as talking about them afterwards in separate videos and such which you can check out here...

user Mephisto_ has written
doesnt really fit the stranded look as DC normally uses hand-painted textures. Your models use rather realistic textures

yeah i know this, thats why i said the photo textures wouldn't match stranded's style

if DC were to send me some example textures, it would look MUCH more fitting.

@user 1uP:
thanks, appreciated

I definetly support your idea. What I'd like to know is if S3 is going to be able to load Google Sketchup shapes or at least a way to convert them into the formats S3 supports, it would be a great tool for mapping/modelling.

I already replied via PM (as user Jawohl asked me via PM about my opinion) but I want to share in public what I think: Those are nice models and they would probably fit into Stranded II. Except for the fotorealistic textures maybe. I really like the church and the half-timber houses. The simple stone houses are okay as well but they could need some more details.

Stranded III models however will have more polygons and buildings shouldn't look that perfect/straight and have more details in general. E.g.: No simple flat rock wall but actually some modelled rocks in it to get an interesting uneven shape. You always have to consider the setting of the game too. You probably won't face a medieval town in Stranded III. You might see buildings from natives but in first instance you will see the stuff that you build yourself - and you probably won't be able to build perfectly looking straight houses. Maybe when you progressed very far and mastered your skils / the building tech tree but you'll face a lot crooked and unperfect stuff first.

I will provide my own art as soon as I've done something so you have an idea what I'm actually aiming for.

About Sketchup models in Unity: I searched on Google and found some threads about it. From what I read there it seems to be possible but problematic. Sketchup Pro however is officially supported by Unity.

@user Starkkz: yeah like DC said, SU pro is supported by unity, however the free sketchup is somewhat supported, and can be put through blender, and config it a bit.

@user DC: thank you a load for your assessment of my models, i have said my models' textures were stand-in examples, and believe it or not, but the the tudor like houses are actually EXTREMELY easy to make compared to other buildings.

just needs loads of thin bendy trees (wattle) and a plaster like mixture of poop, water, mud, and straw called daub,

wattle made into a fence/wall, with the plaster-like daub covering it.

and with the unnaturally straight buildings~ i understand that, it should be a somewhat easy fix, the duab cant be changed, but the wood could look more splintery and bendy

so no, unfortunately you might not face a church, (unless its in an endgame town like S2) and the stone building probably wont be too easy to make, if even possible, but the wattle and daub buildings are entirely possible in a survival setting.

~so in a techtree perspective: wattle fences would be the first of a few unlocked, and when made, can make a small basic wattle shack, and then a fully protected wattle and daub shack, and slowly upgrade to a full 2 story house with balcony.

wattle would be translated to simple "branch"
and daub would be an item made from mud and/or straw, poop, ect.

(wattle fence for referance)

so i will be looking forward to your model examples, and i will follow suit as i can, and i will make the models less perfect, im no texturer though, so it might be hard for me to get textures that fit your game.

PS: the church and the wattle and daub houses are my favorites also, you can tell i put the most work into them.
they are the models i would like in the very most.

what do you think?
