I didn't read OR watch anything related to this but the "Brace yourselves *insert thing here* is coming" meme (if it is it...) is quite popular and I like it. I believe it's an interesting show, though based on feedback I can say that there's a lot of dying there. I'd probably watch it if I didn't have any stuff to watch already.

Same as user Doberman - I didn't read the books but I watched all the current seasons of the series. It's a nice one, with a nice story. I especially like its world.

What the series ISN'T is deserving of all the hype. It's a nice series, but it's definitely not the best thing that ever happened and it's not worth referencing at every corner.

I've watched everything that's out and I'm reading book 3 (non-german numbers, in german they've split some of the books in two parts, that's one of the reasons why I'm reading GOT in english) right now.
I think that it's a very good series and it's finally a series/movie in which good people die too! I really like it!

I can't comment on the "memes" that have been brought about from this TV series. It's definitely a TV show that you should watch if you ever have the spare time.

I suppose with anything like this you're bound to get a huge fandom from it, one specific example being the work of J.R.R Tolkien.

I agree that it is heavily overhyped, but it definitely is worth watching in comparison to some of the crap that is shown nowadays.

I'm pretty sure the books have been split for the UK/US releases as well. I would love to pick them up but I've found them to be a bit pricey for what they are. Generally seems to happen whenever a TV series or Movie is based off a book.

I'm still excited for Season 4 of Game of Thrones which will be based off Book 3.

English books: 5. German books: 9. Same amount of story.

Game of Thrones is some serious bullshit. I used to scold my girlfriend for watching this until she stopped. Seriously, stop sipping on TV, it's just a waste of time. Everybody talks about this shitty sitcom! I'd be better watching "Friends".

NINE BOOKS?!

I thought it would be about 6 or 7.

Well, that is a bit of a shame that it didn't entertain you. I guess HBO can't please everyone, LOL.

I've watched all three seasons and read no books. The show to me is simply stunning, especially how the setting and the atmosphere is perfect.

After hearing that season 4 is going to be released in 2014, my excitement simply rose.

Yeah, but as I've said, in germany they've split some of the books. So the usual 5 books that George R R Martin has written yet are 9 books in germany. Don't know why, perhaps just to get more money.

I find it quite good. Watched all seasons just like you and started first book few days ago. I can say book is merely same expect some non-added or changed some stuff like Lord Arryn's son's name, Daenerys and Khal Drogo's behavior while they do sex
