Dear Community,

I have a question concerning the different versions of CounterStrike2D.exe
I am working on the website that processes information coming from an Anti Cheat program. One thing the AC does is look at the files in your CS2D folder and check with the use of hashes if that file is standard. (We don't want people to edit gfx or sfx in their advantage)

In the past there was only one hash coming in from CounterStrike2D.exe, and that one was the correct hash. Of course for every new version we have to add a hash. But I already have the hashcodes for 0119, 0120 and 0121 and yet there are still different hashes coming in from people who I know have not messed with their .exe (myself for example).

My question is, have there been minor fixes for the .exe that I do not know of. And if so, how can I get these different versions so I can distinguish altered cs2d versions?

Thanks in advance!

dfe73d6e423e1d085a76fc1c48bc2d38 that's my md5

Just take the one from the original .zip and consider everything else as cheaters and hope that's gonna be fine

PS: To answer your question: an executed .exe can't edit itself. I don't think DC has any mechanism that would do that.

VADemon you just suggested to consider yourself as a cheater
Because that is one of the 'mystery' hashes that is not the one from the orginal .zip

Would there be a difference between the .zip version and the installer version?

For version 0.1.2.1, i noticed that after a few days cs2d was patched because a minor bug was found, without changing the version number. So there are essentially two 0.1.2.1 versions out there, which are compatible with each other ( i.e. both clients can play on the same server ).

To address your problem: why don't you allow all found ( and verified ) hashes?

Well that's exactly my question. How do I verify it is an official version.

I just downloaded and extracted from .zip:

After starting the game the hash didn't change.

Just download .zip and extract every time the hash changes. I don't think people will play older versions so this is kinda risk-free for users. Or make a backup before replacing the original .exe
