Stranded II Mods TheSurvivalist:Christmas Update 12-24-191
[img][/img]
By the way, I never played your mod but I think you did a good effort to develop this modification. Maybe I could give a try this mod.
Sorry for the delay with regards to the latest update. I have just been taking a break and working some on my standalone survival PC game called Epic Survivor.
Also, just enjoying some of the nice weather while my daughter is out of school for summer break.
I will try to finish this mod up next month and post a final download link in the Unreal archive.
Keep us updated on Epic Survivor.
Oh and of course enjoy the summer.
Wondering if there are any updates since almost 3 mths ago?
The latest Halloween update is posted at the top of page 1, or any of my signatures. TheSurvivalist 10-01-15
The mod is almost finished. One thing to note this update is: The SPRINT button (left-shift) has been altered back to the original HOLD DOWN SHIFT TO SPRINT method. I have fixed the old lag issue from the past using this sprint method.
Happy Halloween! and have fun!
p.s. Be sure to review the change-log for the latest changes...located at the top of page 1, or open it in the main game folder.

One problem: Whenever I start or stop sprinting, my game lags for about one second, every time. Please fix this. Other than that, it's fine.

Enjoy!
Hey, here is a sprint fix for you to download.
Enjoy!
It's a tiny game.inf file, just drop it in your \sys folder and copy over/replace.

I forgot to add my sprint script to the update, before uploading it...sorry about that. I have updated the mod download too, with the patch included now.

Besides: That shark attack music is awesome
I delete old versions too.
You can try running the game in "window" mode...it is higher fps. Here is a link for a window-mode .exe file.
Windowmode .exe
Just drop it in the main game folder with TheSurvivalist.exe and click it to start your game instead. You get higher fps in window-mode. When I am done with the mod I will upload 2 different versions...one will be "lite" with no moving skyboxes/sun and less cpu demand...for those who need higher fps.

I still get the 1 second lag, when starting and stopping to sprint. Does anyone else have this problem as well?
This 10-12 update is even a higher performance version over the recent 10-10 update. I have studied and tweaked scripts making significant headway in performance. My system currently detects virtually zero lag issues.
Download from page 1 at the top, or any of my posted signatures.
P.S. Please forgive my multiple uploads with these recent October updates.
Happy Halloween! Please give feed back on performance when you can.

Assassin,
Thanks for your feedback! Due to your comment I have discovered while I was testing in a late game map I created a issue for starting a new map. So there was some "tick lag" every 2 seconds during early play...Now Fixed!
The FPS I can not make any better. It is the "timer" scripts I got running to do certain things that cause what I refer to as "tick lag" or "lag spikes", is what a have been working on. You should notice when the sun moves there is no spike as before , etc. I have addressed them for early game too, now. Thanks!

You can wait for the Nov update or re-download 10-13 if you already have it. Latest is exactly 52MB zipped.
eh...I tried to post the 2 global timers I have made, but they are so huge in size the forum won't accept them in whole. lol
If I may, he he:
1) Make swimming way more exhausting, and dangerous, accidents should happen. Also, allow for less air while swimming (yeah I know again). The ocean is nothing to mess around with, it should truly be a barrier, one way or ten others.
2) You should give it a thought to the bottles and containers. It is too easy - keep in mind we cannot have food decay. Containers should be more expensive to get (but easier [somehow]) and there needs to be more breakage.
3) Make it so that we can sell a Diary to the Pirate. I guess the issue is whether you can make it so that "only" entries made on "different" days count when effecting the sale. And then, only one of them. Otherwise someone could just BS a diary on day 300 in front of the pirate before selling. But if you can force it, that only entries made on different days would count towards the price of the diary... that would be awesome I think.
For example:
A) Sell diary day 10 =
(base) $10 +
(how far into the game = 10 days) $10 +
(how many entries = 5 entries) $5 =
; sell on day 10 = $10 + $10 + $5 =
$25
B) If instead you want to wait for day 300 =
(base) $10 +
(how far into the game = 300 days) $300 +
(how many entries = 179 entries) $179 =
; sell on day 300 = $10 + $300 + $179 =
$489.
And of course, can only sell once. Heh, you will get your Crusoes.
4) And dude, you should add a Survivalist mode. No manual saves. Large/Hills/Hard. Press and play.
*** you should also probably make it easier for easy level (give them more shit in their sack, i.e., swiss knife, a lighter with some gas, 2 little pepsi bottles, some jerk beef and cookies, even a kit with fishing stuff, etc... he he he)
Thanks dude.

Very cool ideas there, I will look into bottle breakage...seems logical when hardening clay bottles some might break, and boiling water at a fire should yield some breakage occasionally too.
I will remove finding bottles when fishing. Every time I find one fishing, it is something that keeps crossing my mind and I always forget to edit that script. I can also increase the clay amount needed for 1 bottle a bit, to help make it more balanced/challenging.
I will review the diary idea some more...not sure exactly how that would work or how to script it "on the fly" so to speak.
Don't think I can do #4 as that has to be done in the source code and re-compiling the .exe I think. I will look into it...maybe I can if I can find a way to work-around that when the game loads...like I did the entire weather system for this mod.
Thanks again for your comment/input! Good to see ya! Hope all is well.
