to anyone interested, check it out at inzainia's channel
culd someone please explain prospecting to me? do i need to keep moving and using it to find what im looking for(iron/spring/gold nodes) or do i just sit and keep using it and it happens if i get it. thanks again for the mod.

prospecting is done with the shovel inhand and you only need to check a spot once...then move a step and check, move n check. etc.
As you level, you get more options for prospecting.
If you find something it will reveal itself above the terrain, such as a rock or spring.
GREAT TIP ON THE BLACK SCREEN -win
and the letter "F" on some icons tells you it is a fuel source.

Unless you've changed something, I think you can just stand in place and prospect. If I recall correctly, it's just a random chance modified by your skill level -- it is not affected by the surrounding level environment.
EDIT:
Yes It is confirmed, you can stand in 1 spot and prospect until you find something.

There are too many shells washed up on the beaches and they are causing my game to lag insanely hard when I sleep, it sometimes even crashes. Is there any way to stop them from spawning or to completely refresh my map to clear them all?
Picking them all up would take WAY too long, I tried it already and got over 600 shells in about 10 steps, lol.
Thanks
A PATCH IS AVAILABLE AT THE TOP OF PAGE 1 THAT ADDRESSES THE RECENT SHELL SPAWNING BUG and also includes the ability "to light a fire in the rain" if under cover of a building.
The next full game update already has a bunch of stuff added to the game...be sure to check the "Next Update" tab while your visiting page 1. Should be released before Valentines Day...maybe earlier.

I love you guys. keep it up! balance it.
love it x1000 times.
well I am a newbie, and through a newbie point of view this mod is kind of good, except the thing that I get laggy when I wake up. is this a glitch?
and in my opinion a tent shouldn't be so easy to make sine it is a big structure. it will take you a lot of skins and branches and vines. I think because of the fact that it can be reuse and not that necessary at the start, we should balance it a bit. harder to make I think. I am a newbie, well, so may be I am underestimate it.
but the well, it is unreasonable when you can make a well without a shovel. may be we need to find a water spring first ? It gives you unlimited fresh water so... I think it should be harder to make, so people will cry when they have one lol. true happiness.
and I really like the idea of multi-step process. maybe we should make something like a cart.
and the best thing and the must have with me is shortcut key for using, eating, combining etc... this could save me a lot of time. please TT_TT.
and hey sometimes the ground went completely black. what's wrong with it ? it's not the night tho. a bug ?
edit: found out this is a main game bug. well...

Hello txtrung0...glad to hear your enjoying the game!
We are working on improvements and your feedback is very welcomed. We try to consider everything posted and will get to the things we can improve. Thanks!
Yes the black terrain is a game bug, it happens when you "tab out" of the game using the ALT key, or whatever. It has been discussed in the Diary info to SAVE your game often. If you hit a major bug or like the black terrain issue, you can "reload" your saved game that was ok.
The well will catch water when it rains whether you built it on a spring, or not. So it has a couple of functions in acquiring water. A shovel can be made very soon in the game...as soon as you start crafting iron. A player has a choice if they want to make a well at a certain location to catch rain water, or wait to build one after they made a shovel and prospect a underground spring. I understand what your saying though.
When you sleep and the day changes, alot of scripts run for a few seconds to make the game function as intended. On some computers this can cause lag for a few seconds. If you run windows 7 you may want to try the alternate start icon in the download. Or click your start icon and change the "compatibility mode" to a older operating system if you have XP or something.
Another thing that can cause more severe lag is if you do not download the patches we post on the top of page 1...with the full game downloads. These patches are posted as soon as possible when a mistake is made in the full game download, that may be causing a problem. The current patch fixes a bug I created spawning too many shells on the beach when you wake up on a new day. That itself was doing just that, causing heavy lag at midnight, or when you wake in the morning.
I'll look into it and see if we can make the shovel a requirement to build a well asap.

be sure to download the patch at the top of page 1 if you download the Christmas fullgame update. A must do to fix the lag from spawning shells on the beach.
A new full game download is coming soon with a ton of new stuff and added game play. Details at the top of page 1 "Next Update". Be sure to check back here often because I could possibly post it early as a week from now.

thanks all for your feedback, and thanks murlocdummy and kname for your contributions in improving The Survivalist.
and btw it is so strange when some tools making require nails and hammer and some others don't. we always need hammer to attach the nails in right? except we have an iron hand
any this is a extremely great game, and with your mod, the game just got insane. love you guys! really! oh, eh... not really.
Now I can just pretend that my name is Robinson. gotta name all the place in my island, and find my Friday. lol this can make me cry in happy.
and yes some tools do not need nails because they were in the game first, before the ability to make nails. so they have not been modified, only the tools that were implemented after the nails, needs nails for now.
We will likely address that in the near future too. Ton of work and little time makes it tough for me personally.
but hey, this next update I have managed to get alot of key stuff implemented. You guys will really like it once you play a while to notice the difference.
+It is too hard for you to carry all the logs with your bag, even though you're unreasonably strong right now ( carry 80 kg of goods around.. really). So as stated before I really wish we could have some kind of cart that could be ragged around, by us or lions, raptors, double-monkey, a dozen kiwis etc... whatever it takes.
+I can not climb up my tree houses. why?
+I cannot put a torch on top of my watch tower although it is obvious that we MUST have some kind of light in a so called "watch tower".
+ the game just got... kind of peaceful when you settled down. so, I'm thinking of something like "raptor ambush" or "lion attack" to your base, at night of course, to make it more important to protect your base with fences. creepy ]:). this could be done by changing the path finding script of lions or raptors, making them to sometimes ended up near your base at night. and they will just act as they always do, attack you. kind of easy right. I'm a noob, don't blame me . "claw monkeys invade" when you destroy too much trees... wow I could see a lot of benefits from this tiny change. but again I'm stupid, so don't trust me lol.
+ I seriously thinks that the "end game" feature that you guys have discussed some times ago is interesting and realistic. I mean, you have a shiny canoe before right, that's how you got stranded, so you must be wealthy. How on earth can you decide to stay in a rock-age island forever? I will do everything I can to get the hell outta here, because the future of returning and become a native hero is my reasons to get over all of this sh!t. (no, I just want to act as a stranded man, he will probably say something like this, not me lol )
anyway I do really enjoy the game. many thanks to you DC, JJ, Kname, Murloc, and anyone I missed. I love this game so bad even though I've just found out about it for 4 days. Brilliant work! Keep it up!
edit: glad to hear that we are about to have a new update! Holly glory!
hey thanks for the feedback, sounds like some good ideas.
-to climb the treehouse approach the ladder and hit your "E" button and you will go up it.
-you can build a torch below the towers on the ground.
-im considering having natives and animals raid your camp on occasions....just dont know how soon I can get to it.
-playing on HARD mode you may find a bit more challenging.
-the end game ideas have been tossed around...i am considering changing the beginning scenario where your ship has run aground in the storm, and when you start, your ship is beached and heavily damaged and it would take tons of resources to repair the ship to get off the island. Like the ship would be repaired in 3 stages Hull, Deck, and Sail. To work on it you would have to build a dock along side of it to begin working on it. Once repaired you would need to build a compass, and some required amount of supplies have to be loaded on the ship before you could set sail. If accomplished and you set sail, your game would end with a video showing you sailing up to a coastal city. It would take some time to test and adjust the task to expand over some months ingame. This is the most likely scenario i would implement to end the game, and this leaves it up to the player to chose if they want to get off the island, or continue making the island their home.
thanks again for your comments/feedback...an update should be posted within a week or so.
p.s. your not stupid for being a new player.
Imho we should have several ways to end the game, for the sake of realistic, and they should be extremely hard, beside they can just be started after, say 4 months after you've got stranded. the plane rescue way sounds pretty funny to me, since you have to rush like a fool to the nearest high place after the horn. sound pretty funny. but make the ability to build your ship or making signal fire (or some thing more genius) to be the last ability in our tech tree, and kind of 1/3 chance to trigger the end. that should balance it. not so frustrating nor easy. But you know what, for now your "repair your ship" scenario is the best suitable one.
beside one more thing bother me: we have no use for grass yet, and we can't even harvest it. but in real life, the first thing you'll want to have below your settle is a comfortable grassy bed, right?
and why can't we build the torch on top of the watch tower? it's just so wrong to have it on the ground
edit: after thinking a bit I see that I've got carried too far and kind of make some unreasonable demand. I understand that this is a huge amount of work. So first just finish all the thing you'd like to add. I bet they would be awesome by themselves . it's not good to add up more works while the current things are still not done yet. I know how terrible it is to look at a long list of features and each of them requires days of working. For now, I think the best way to be helpful now is play the game for a good deal of times and make comments. I'll try my best
So do your best guys. Best wishes for you. Now get back to my little settlement. I'm running out of food.
P.S you are great. other mod makers (from Minecraft for instance) usually say something like "make some little research before you ask, we have no time for this". this is a small yet important different

So if you play one random map you would have to repair the ship to end the game...then when you start another map you might be grounded in a plane stuck on the beach, and have to repair the plane, while still another you may simply be able to purchase a cell phone from the pirate stores and make a call...ofcoarse you'd have to make some batteries to power it at some level of play.
I already have a model for a damaged ship and a plane...thats the hardest part, done.
yeah...multiple endings sounds good.
