your sky should be changing yes? if you loaded save it might not change until you either sleep once, or midnight passes.

but yes the sun should move every hour as before.

I was looking at the script and as a last resort I was going to make the sky only change at sunrise, noon, sunset, and a night sky. Then there would only be 4 ticks per 24 hour period.

if i do that then I could incorporate "different" skies for variety, I couldn't do that with this current tick because it takes 120 images for just 2 matching 24 hour sets(clearday/rainday). To much work and would make the file size HUGE!. With 4 ticks at 32 images, leaves me room for like 5-6 different sets.

but hey...ty for checking this out for me...I will leave it as is for now and decide for the next big update what to do. See what kinda feedback we get from others. Let me no if your boxes are not changing every hour...should be or I just need to adjust it once more.

Hey, I will be devoting some time to testing this weekend. Hopefully I can use my saved map from 2 weeks ago. Can I?

I do think you should keep messing around with the meteorology until you get it right. It makes the game way more beautiful.

Again, I like the latest changes, except perhaps getting rid of the mine, but I do agree the lava forge is unrealistic and unnecessary, but not so the mine itself.

Perhaps, you can combine the in-game cave as the only entrance to the mine, i.e., the mine can only be built inside the cave? And if so, can you drop more animals in there? i.e. bats, bear, wolves?

Also, not sure if you already did it because I only played a couple of weeks, but you should introduce native raids a la wolves and bear random attacks, only that the frequency and number of natives in each raid increases over time. Also, can you make it so that the natives target structures as well?

Anyways, I will test over the weekend and star updating the guide, I will try to give you an updated guide in a couple of weeks.

Excellent work!!!

Only thing I miss about the mine, really, is the massive amounts of mining experience you get. was a fast track to getting coal for me since prospecting never seemed to work, and when it finally did, all I got was gold. Also the weight limit was a pain in the ass.

Hey JasJack and all you other amazing Survivalist fans,

I've been a Survivalist since the very first version and I've been spamming Tobuscus, Pewdiepie, and Markiplier with your newest game link whenever they tweet 'What should I play next?' Got any "hooks" to get them interested? How many downloads of this version have you had? Markiplier especially loves indie games and a fantastic game like this is just the type of stuff I see him playing when he's not doing horror games. We just gotta get his attention!

If I can ever get my face cam + game capture + editing software to work together I plan on making this my "signature game" on my channel but I can so see my favorite youtubers playing. We have some amazing creative minds in this forum so if anybody's got any ideas to promote we should band together and do it!

Tobuscus is looking for a new game to play right now! Tweet #helptobygames We also need to tweet #Pewdiepie #games and #Markiplier #letsplay . (Just for the record, I'm not Thunder on youtube; I go by lady survivor, but I don't have any vids up as of yet so I'm a nobody wannabe right now. I promise to post here first if that ever changes.)

Let's have fun!

thunder,
sweet! I would like to wait till I get February update posted to promote. It will be a very stable game at that time. (2 weeks?)

Excellent! I am positively vibrating with anticipation! I will continue to moniter tweets and and youtube (like I wouldn't anyway, duh!) and will let you know of any updated hashtags. Why I didn't think of combining my two favorite activities - youtube gamers and this game - before now is beyond me. This game is so good more people need to know about it and my coworkers are like - shut up already! lol.

PS. My chicken coops just weren't working, alas. To answer your last response, I went and recaught every chicken and rooster i owned and still nada so I'm figuring it had to to do with it being a pre-patch game. And i had great odds too! Lots of chickens and roosters. Do you have any idea what 5 chickens and 7 roosters sound like at 5am game time? Well, I'll tell you. DEAFENING! I started a new game and I'm on day six so I'll post again at my first sign of an egg or chick.

lol...yes i have 12 chickens and 5 roosters on day 95. They are deafening...but only for 5 seconds...i'll see if I can turn them down a notch

if you didn't catch it on the other page...the 01-01-2014 was patched/reposted yesterday the 14th. Hope your new game is on that version.

Ah yes the chickens. I kept forgetting to mention, I caught two chickens and a rooster, and built a coop, but the next day all three of them were stuck in the back of the coop and I couldn't get them with the net, so I just broke the coop and knifed them. =P Also, chickens should drop feathers.

Please don't turn down the sound of the chickens unless you feel it's absolutely neccessary. Personally, i think the noise is cool, just like the sound of the wolves and bears when they happen. My two favorite commentary moments have to do with the wolves and bears spawning when I least expect them. (Too bad they're not camera-worthy, cause they had my son rolling in laughter at me! LMAO!)

As far as updates, I believe the version I have now is the newest. I'll just have to wait and see.

So i have just had an epiphany about the hourly tick. I have once more taken a step forward in scripting it for optimized performance. (less of a spike)

I also re-worked the forge a bit: You can now "snuff" it out by hitting it, to put out the fire, instead of unloading all the fuel...and when you light it, it will now emit some light too, like a campfire. So you can see what the hell your doing, and it's more realistic. I have never lit a fire that did not give off light.

That'll be convenient. I can just pile all my charcoal into the furnace and leave it there, like a storage, only on fire sometimes

Something I was curious about, btw, the well and the trough. How does the well work? Does it have a limited supply of water? Refills when it rains? I remember in the older version it seemed to be dry and useless all the time, even if you left it alone with water in it. Also I know the trough holds water, but with buckets and wells, what's its advantage?

the 2 main differences between the trough and bucket are the materials it takes to make them, and the bucket is more useful as it is required for digging, and composting.

early on ingame it may rain your first few days and its a quick way to catch water...after getting established you would likely build buckets once you gather the cotton, and bark. It, just takes less material to build the trough currently.

I have had plan for the trough for a long time now. I just never implemented it yet. It would be use to automatically water large numbers of crops. Once you planted some amount of crops you could build the trough next to it...then instead of using bottles to water individually to water the ground, you would just go to the trough and add water to it...to water all crops "near" (in a certain range). Or if it rained, the trough would fill providing water to all the crops near automatically, for how ever long the water lasted in the trough AFTER it stops raining.

They would also be useful to build them end to end making 1 long trough going to a water source (like a fountain or water rock, or distillers)...then you could add the water from the water source when the troughs went dry, and it would travel all the way down the trough to the crops, watering them.

Myst,
when you use your shovel to just dig for worms and stuff, or you just dig a hole...you get digging skill.

when you prospect, you are digging and looking for ore rock or underground springs...you get digging skill AND mining skill.

working on the leaf/branch planting menus now...got the planting bushes done so for. (see: todo list page 1)

Oh wow, nother bug, potentially game-breaking. I can't sleep because the game thinks there's an event going on, but there isn't. The last event before I saved and quit was a bat attack, but I don't remember whether or not I saved during it or after it.

Myst

ok, download this tiny game.rar file.

https://www.mediafire.com/?i6azdi8y051wgdd

goto TheSurvivalist\mods\MassiveMod\sys

UNZIP
and drop the game.inf into the sys folder and choose copy over/replace.

let me know if your sleep works then, please. It will actually fix it's self when the next event of the same type "ends"...but I added a safety script for those that save the game during an event. When it loads the save it will run a clear events script. I'll have to look at the prospecting tomorrow and fix that for the update. Great finds/feedbacks! Thank You!
