Hey JJ, so i've been playing alot since you fixed the Lag spikes and I must say I'm very pleased with the current game stability. I have found a few stuffs that needs to be fixed, if I knew how I would have fixed em myself, but you are the genius here xD.

So here is what I found sofar, small stuff but still.

I had figured out they are not breeding too, and I already fixed it.

Here is tiny patch download to fix chicken breeding:
Or you guys can re-download the entire 01-01 update.

PATCH DOWNLOAD:https://www.mediafire.com/?rqb475br2k1tvbc

1)Download, Unzip, and Open the PATCH folder.
2)rightclick and COPY the file units.inf
3)go to TheSurvivalist/mods/MassiveMod/sys
4)rightclick and PASTE it in the sys folder.
5)say yes to "replace" / "copy over".

--------------------------
P.S. thanks for the other corrections...duly noted
FIXED

That hand torch should lite other fires as I tested it again, though you need to have a precise hit on the center. It wont work in the rain, but you can bark/branch fire it in the rain, or flint it.

Last but not least (for now at least) What happened to your unity project?

hey guys...

EDIT:thanks again hyper for the finds, corrections will be in the next update.
FIXED

I have put my unity project on hold for now...the "save game" issue is a big problem for me. I will have to study that area of coding more before I get it right...and I don't know how long that will take me. I have to start that project over and serialize everything for saving "along the way", in a way that works...because I had started making the game first I could not get the save to work right later, because all the coding was done with out saving it in mind. So it was a good start for learning the unity engine, but I have to start from scratch once I figure it all out.

I'm trying to craft a crossbow, but I can't make bolts. They seem to be missing from the forging menu. Also I recommend increasing the interval between ticks. It always seems to happen when I'm chasing a kiwi with a knife or aiming for a bird with my bow.

And Oh my god I'm so happy I no longer have to break my grill to clean if of burnt food!!

Also, Hyperfire, it SAYS it snuffs out the fire, but keep hitting it. It lights eventually for me.

heya Myst yeah i had made a mistake when I was working on the hammers...already fixed. As you could see there is like 2 sets of nails instead of nails and bolts.

I will probably post the latest update here in a few days...sorry about that. This next update should be really good for the game.

I will be doing something about that hourly tick...even if I have to resort back to not having the sun move throughout the day and the changing sky into night. As much as i like it, i may not be able to fix it enough to keep it. If i take it out we would have different skies that load randomly when you wake from sleeping...about all I could do then. The sun would then just remain in one position all day like it used to. Thanks for checking in!

p.s. you can still make wooden bolts from a branch for now,(or bamboo i think), though they are less damage. Also, I think the STEEL bolts should still be available in the menu I think, cant remember. Scroll the craft menu down.

Yeah I did get the option of iron bolts when I made an iron hammer. I need the iron ones to actually craft the crossbow, right? I wasn't sure if wooden ones would work. Anyway that brings me to another bug, I couldn't craft the crossbow with the iron hammer, it HAD to be the stone hammer.

Oh and is there something you can do about where the water/forge rocks spawn? Not in this version but in the old one, I was trying to do a medium island game and they kept spawning in trees or on steep slopes making construction or use of a forge impossible, unless there's some other way to knock down trees than with an axe.

hmm, yes you are correct, i forgot you need a bolt to craft it:

branch+Ironbar+cord+ironbolt+hammer =CROSSBOW

my bad...ill have an update posted soon, as i already have this fixed as I mentioned above.

EDIT:you can chop a tree down with anything...even your fists. it is just a matter of hitting it longer with a weaker tool. You can use your shovel to lower the land on the high side of the hill slope to fix those...but no I cannot prevent the spawning of things in/on other things. I have researched that already.

something worth mentioning though...if you dig out dirt under something, (like a forge rock), when you reload the game the object settles in the hole...I can not fix that either But some times I find it a useful thing on slopes, to make access easier to load a campfire for example. Or dig around a cover building, reload, and it settles "level". Kinda neat!

cool, cept if I can't use the forge, I can't make a shovel =P Also, if you stop hitting a tree or bush, does it.. regain health, as it were, or can I beat on it a little one day, sleep, and beat on it the next day till it goes down? I've knocked down trees on vanilla before with my hands, but it seems appropriately harder to do so in this mod.

yes...health is regenerated for everything, including units, at midnight on the changeday everyday. Not to 100%, but only a percentage each midnight.

Example:
A damaged tree with less then it's 1200 health max, regenerates +300 per midnight, until it is 100%.

Units are the same...if you make a unit bleed though...it will bleed until it's health reaches 0 and falls dead, or until midnight (which ever comes first). At midnight it is healed, and starts regenerating health just as the tree.

Can you tell me how the chicken coop works? I downloaded and installed the patch and I still haven't got any eggs. I figured it might be because that coop was built before the patch so I built a new coop and caught a new rooster and chicken and that one doesn't have any eggs either. I'm about halfway through summer now. Do I need to start a new game to get the patch to work? Or am I doing something wrong? I just discard the chickens in front of the coop right? I tried right-click, left-click and 'e' and they don't do anything.

yo hey thunder

look UNDER the chickens...you have to use your net and pick up the chicken to get the eggs under it.

but the baby yellow chicks will just spawn close and be hopping around.

if you only have 1 chicken chances are low...if you have several chickens chances are high.

most important is having a rooster near, or chickens do not breed anything.

The patch is just script that should work, so I am thinking you do have eggs under the chickens...unless you only have 1 chicken maybe the random chance is screwing with you (just unlucky) if you could put a few chickens near the coop you might get eggs/chicks faster.

Thankies, and one more suggestion. I don't tend to dig for items much. Takes up too much energy, hunger, and thirst. Is prospecting dependent on digging skill? If so, please do make it so that prospecting also raises digging skill.

old Re-Download Update 01-01-2014

I have added the latest fixes from my todo list on page 1 to the current 01-01-2014 update.

I would like some feedback on 2 specific things after re-downloading it, please.

1) The hourly tick: I re-coded the "tick" and was able to reduce the skybox images smaller, and keep quality. Let me know how you think it feels now ingame. Seem really good on my computer.

2) Fishing: Without bait and tackle you can still catch fish but at a cost of breaking your pole more often. In reality you cant really catch fish with a stick and string, you need bait and a hook of sorts. This pole breakage is to encourage players to craft hooks/lures, and use bait.

If you have been playing the previous updates with the horrible hourly tick please leave some feed back on how it runs now on your computer.

You can copy your "save" over as it is 100% compatible.

Well, I'm actually going to revert back to the previous version. Sorry, the ticks are actually more disruptive now than before. I do like the idea of the rod breaking less when hooks and bait are used, but haven't gotten around to testing that.

er.. turns out I deleted the previous version. Meant to leave it in the bin just in case, but emptied it. Is there a download available for the previous still?

thank you MystBunny for feedback...

Since your post, I re-uploaded my last attempt at this hourly tick issue.

Would you please try the download one more time for me please please? Tell me if your tick is way better then it ever was?

I appreciate your time in downloadings...im sorry...please do it for me once more and see if your tick is fixed. The latest download is now only 27.7MB

It is definitely much better. I do have an older computer, so it's probably more noticeable to me than to others. It's still there, and it would probably still disrupt aiming, but it's tolerable. Did you stop it from changing the sky? Is there perhaps a way to still have the sky change but only every.. say.. 4, 5 ticks or so, or maybe just vastly increase the period between ticks? Maybe just have a different sky load once every day and night and when it's about to rain? Honestly it doesn't matter much to me, as long as the game itself is playable, but still maybe there's a far less disruptive way to keep it?
