@ DC: can you make SIII models look fresh?cuz i was just looking at your project and i find models alittle dark and boring i know it's not complete yet but i'm just sayin
and add more animals plz like snakes, elephants, new fish, and so on
ty
lol PRINCE of PERSIA. You are seriously saying that the models in SII were "dark"? Are you kidding? It doesn't get much more colorful without causing eye cancer...
@ Yates: No zombies. At least not for the single player adventure. Maybe I'll add a zombie mode just for fun but zombies clearly won't be a regular game element!
Due to the small story on Stranded and this cool image it obviously implies some weird person/thing. And I like zombies, so I call it a zombie, people follow and zombies get added! Woo!
i think he sayed that he wont do this..
but do you want to implement the feature that we dont klick a button to for example "make a stick fexible with water"?
it would be nice that we hold the button and see the parmeters get igger and smaller so if you dont pay attension the stick can break or is too flexible
Well... a game with survival elements like stranded would indeed fit nicely with zombies. But I don't think that is a main thing for this game... Maybe something could be made using parts of the code for Stranded 3?Still, I think that shouldn't get in the way of the first game releases or anything.
There are a zillion games out there about zombies. And last I checked, only a handful about survival. Indeed, Stranded II/MMS is the best of its class I have found (I have not played FC3, but from the trailers, it seems a shooter game. And Miasmata and the like are really not truly about survival).
I hope Stranded III et al becomes even more of a serious survival game than its predecessors.
I find zombies should by no means be part of the story and a feature in the game. Zombies in games are like a deus ex machina of modern gaming, and more often than not a sign of 'we can't come up with anything interesting so here's some zombies'.
To make a game interesting you shouldn't make players kill dead people. You need to come up with something interesting, which I hope DC does.
Does it not make more sense to add them if Stranded III can better them all?
It doesn't, actually. It's not about Stranded III making zombies more interesting, it's about zombies making Stranded III duller, as they do almost everything nowadays.
Yates, someone may make a mod with zombies, which I guess would look like natives, etc. So, your cravings should be satisfied.
As to Stranded III besting some of the big titles developed by a team of coders with tons of money... good luck! (no offense intended DC, again, I think Stranded is the best of its class).
Besides, zombies are more appropriate for fast shooter fantasy games, not for a game that aims to recreate a castaway experience.
Well others could simply script a zombie mode if I don't do it myself for fun.
You don't need the source code of the game to do things like that.
But as said before: Zombies are not part of the normal game modes and they will only be in the game if I add special zombie modes (which may or may not happen). Basically like CS2D. There is a zombie mode but there are no zombies in the default maps and in other modes.
If DC wants to make unique game - he for shure won't add "zombies" to the main game - maybe he will make a model - that can be aded to main game by anyone - who have at least some knowladge about moding...
Why he won't make in that case zombies in main game??? Simply google these things: "Day Z mod", "Project x", "Minecraft", "Dead Frontier" and so along (sorry for off-topic). BUT, there is TOO much games about SURVIVING WITH ZOMBIES, but there is NO games WITHOUT zombies!!!
So, if DC would add zombies to the main game - he would make one of the thousand of the games in "zombie survival" genre and .point.
the lake creation tool looks very interesting.
you didnt say anything about it explicitly and the screenshots are also a little vague but I assume that different water levels are now possible?
also: do the liquids have any properties? and if yes, can they be defined by scripters, both in modifying and creating new ones?
for example I could think of "swamp" and "drift sand" which lets the player drown slowly while swimming upwards is really hard. also the view should turn dark once the player gets below surface level with his eyes.
