I mean, i don't want to insult any of the more religious people, but doesn't the idea of a God seem ridiculous? Wars, Poverty, Tyrants, Mass-Killings, Corruption, all that shit, and when the problem is solved, several hundred die, now, what the hell is wrong with whatever deity you pray to, that he has to fight death with more death?
Now, what with the karma thing, it might make a little bit of sense, but, lookie this here situation : A Man barely has enough money for food, he lives on the pavement, has debts to pay and is plagued by mental disorders? things like these force people to the life of crime, if you can't even support your most basic needs, you are obviously going to have to take it from others, few want to die, and if a man has to commit crimes just to live and Lower his karma, he would be punished worst, which, if you look at it, just makes god sound like some Corrupted, greedy asshole
Also, in the bible, there are no references to these kind of people, sure, the poor are mentioned a few times, but i had, so far, found no reference regarding those that are slowly starving from lack of food and having to resort to eating rats and drinking mud

It is possible for a very evolved entity to have created the universe as we know it. But what do we know? Nothing. That's were religion comes in. It's only natural that we want to understand, or at least pretend that we understand matters which are out of our reach. It's how our brains work.
Religion is now losing ground to the new scientific discoveries, we can actually explain things we could not before, we can do w/o blaming them on old geezers that fart lightning bots from atop the clouds (seriously now).
Religion is temporary. We are no longer primitive (most of us).

That's quite harsh to say, because we can't fathom why we are here in the first place.
Maybe we need to experience bad in order to know what good is. It could be a test, because life isn't permanent.
Just because we don't know how God works or what the true meaning of life is, doesn't mean we should dismiss him just because there is negativity in the world.
For example, most cats are afraid of water, it is torture for them, it is evil for them, but they don't understand that water will help them clean their body. They don't understand we put them in baths to get them clean.
How will a child know that if he touches the hot furnace,
he will burn his fingers? By learning it the hard way.
Humankind could be going through a neccesary phase in order to get to a better position.
