Unmountable_boot_valume error on starting Windows
31 repliesIt, fucking, sucks.

This happened on me aswell, and when did the BSOD came? After the Windows Loading? Did you try Safe Mode and System Restore? The do it. If none of this works, you're fucked up. You really need to reformat it.
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME is not a problem with the operating system, so running under safe mode or networking would fail. Another operating system would fail as well

It depends on how many people are using the os.
When windows 7 had just come out I would have said:
XP>7>98>95>Vista>Me>Ce
However with the rising usages I now have to say:
7>XP>98>95>Me>Ce>3>Vista

Then if this can't be fixed by a Safe Mode. Then ask for your friend if he/she knows a person who have it or can reformat your computer. My dad has done it aswell but i don't why the reformater didn't install some graphic drivers. I think he's retarded.

you've been using it for 2-3 years and you claim to hate it?
I hate xbox's but I've been using it for 2-3 years because I play console games on it (one in particular is Halo, which will never be on a Sony platform).

Laptops need specific CD-ROMS. Atleast most do. So i doubt he will get a working one from his friend.

I fixed computer :D!
Here is the tips for user who have/will have this problem
If you don't have CD Rom And CD-Disk of your windows then
Ask someone to give you the CD
Use working computer with CD Rom (Go to friend's home or whatever)
Save all Windows XP CD data to this computer
Using USB_Multiboot_10 boot the flash drive to use it as CD-Disc
Now insert flash drive to your computer
When it will start press F12 and select boot mode from your flash drive
When Windows XP text installation will show up. Press "R"
When console will open write there: "chkdsk /r"
That should scan and fix your computer, but if you will get error that saying you don't have file "AUTOCHK.EXE"
Write: C:\WINDOWS\system32
if you will still have this error then
use another flash drive and take that file (From antoher comp located in C:\WINDOWS\system32)
Then when console will showup write there
"chkdsk /r" then write "D:"
That's what I made to fix my comp! GL if someone have this problem

BTW!
