Stranded II General Black ground on Alt+Tab Black ground on Alt+Tab
11 replies The window mode doesn't really work well on my system (I can post specs if required). But when I alt+tab out and then back all the ground turns black as does the interface. But the thing is, if I'm in the map editor and accidentally do that and then save it, when you close and reload it, the ground is still black. Once I had to restore a custom map from backup and lost a few hours of work.
Any suggestions, other than not alt+tabbing? LOL. try switching between DirectX and OpenGL
or play in windowed mode (that would be the easiest solution). DC Admin Offline
please search the forum next time before posting. there are several threads about exactly this topic already. I tried searching but the solutions for those threads didn't help (I didn't try downgrading the drivers as I generally don't do that as a rule).
I'll try OpenGL though
Windowed mode is just even more glitchy so it doesnt work for me DC Admin Offline
Satan666's opengl idea is worthless beacause Stranded II is DirectX only.
I'm sorry to tell you that there's no known solution to this problem (and that's why you didn't find any). Could possible a virtual machine work? I think I read somewhere people didnt have the Memory Access problems when using virtual machines. But its a lot of work for one game heh. you could also remove the alt or the tab key from your keyboard. did the same with my windows keys cause they always crashed my steam games. well I use alt+tab shortcut quite frequently. then what exactly is the problem with windowmode? well it causes strange graphical glitches which cause the game to be unplayable. i tried changing various settings. they're hard to describe. from my experience I can tell that this usually only happens when playing in fullscreen mode and switching to the desktop.
when playing in windowmode and minimizing the game window everything should be fine. yes, but in windowmode the glitches happen
