Shortcut...A Program that you copy, or w/e but it contains no files, it sends you to the actual file, so If I had a CS2D File...
And I Made it a shortcut on my desktop, it would send me to the actual one since all shortcuts do are send you to the real one

Eum.... Copy the original and stop making shortcuts if you are the one who is making them (your explainations are really confusing...)

Better send me a screenshot of your Stranded II directory. Email-adress is in my profile

The thing is, there is no original, whenever I TRY To, it says:
Browsing for: Strandedii.exe

You must download the german Stranded 2 at first and then you must install the english mod

Oh, that's what you mean!
s2Englisch is a self-extracting archieve, you have to select the directory of the German Mod and start the extracting

EDIT: Too lame...

NOT the dir of the german mod, the base directory of stranded II!

I'll try to make a real setup system for mods sometime, but I really need time and ideas how this should work (script, or by filelist or something).

bizzl: I use the Nullsoft Installation system all the time to make installers! It works great! You should try it.....

It uses the NSIS scripting language but you can just get a wizard that does all of the coding for you!

I tried NSIS. It's stupid. If I want to make a real setup, for apps or something, I use Inno.
But the IDe-wizards doesn't work properly in 90% of the cases, and for S2 mods those Installer systems aren't variable enough (though, I simply could code arround in Inno to make it usable).
We need something that checks for the strandedii.exe himself.

Okay...
What version of german stranded have you got?
Are you installing it to the BASE directory of stranded 2?
And are you using the ENGLISH MOD SHORTCUTS you made in the installation process?

they are deleted because they are normally not needed. I didn't think about this here.

And please stop creating so many posts in a row. one would have done the job.

This might help:
- Open mods/S2Ext/sys/game.inf
- Remove the complete line which contains the word falldamagefactor
- Save the changes

I have mercy with you and I therefore have spent some of my
precious spare time (which I could have used for school instead)
to get Stranded II English up-to-date again and end its little
crisis of compatibility:

Stranded II German v0.0.2.3 [required]

Stranded II English v0.0.2.3

[Remark, January 3-2007: this link does not work anymore, see the last page for the current one]

@ DC: When you release the next version, please keep
the 0.0.2.3 installer so that in the future, we can handle it
as proposed.

Edit: I just noticed that the problem with the Singleplayer remains!
In the new game.inf, there is no "falldamagefactor".
So that cannot be the reason.
The adventure mode works, so everybody: don't worry, just download it.

Could you please tell us what you did so we can reproduce the problem. It seems to be a problem with the directories, but I have no idea what problem. When ever I try the setup, it works fine.
