Well... i've decided to re-open my server ">>JOgaKI<< Brasil [2D].
But when a player joins my server, he start downloading the files, and when he finishes it, he disappear from the server and everyone who's playing got kicked by ping too high. I think it's certainly this new CS2D bugged version. The old one had no lag, my server could support 14 players with ping 40~20, and on this version, player enter and got kicked instantly... If it isn't the new CS2D version, what is it? Can someone help? o.0

Ever thought that the server and/or the players are lagging? Brazillians quite often have bad pings. You can never be sure, the internet has it's ups and downs. But there is no way that it is because of the new version. I'm pretty sure that DC doesn't change the multiplayer code everytime he releases a new version!

this is not caused by the new version. it's either caused by wrong settings or by weak connection(s) (or both).

one crucial setting for transfers is cs2d cmd transfer_speed
using a too high value there can lead to what you just described.

What's a good number to put on server transfer?
Mine is 35, i've changed it. But i don't remember the default value.

@DannyDeth, the Brazilian internet isn't that bad, it's the cables that transmit, on the U.S.A. the default cable is the "Optic-Fiber" one (or "Fiber-Optic", i don't know :p).
And the Brazilians are lagged only on the "gringo" servers (the other country ones), and i know that
However, if i could go to U.S.A. some day, maybe i could live better (on security and internet therms)

Well, I know what you mean. I live in South Africa which is not exactly an advantage. Every part of the world is connected to us by under-sea cables which means the internet is prone to going out for weeks on end, and then once it's fixed it lags all the way up to 20 seconds. Damn first-world countries get all the good computer shit

Moreover I would never move to the U.S.A, more likely to England or Germany or some other European country, America ain't my piece of cake, lol.

Wow, i shouldn't like to live on Africa, you know.. what the television shows.. But i love the Chinese architecture, but anyways... if im planning to make Game Design and programming i may surely go to U.S.A.

So... the number that must be on transfer_speed is 20?

the default value is 25 (go to new game -> more settings -> select "transfer_speed" and click default).
which value is best.. hard to tell... depends on the number of players on the server and especially the available upload speed for the cs2d server.
you should be rather safe if you use half or less of the upload bandwidth for transfers.
so if you run one cs2d server (and nothing else which needs bandwidth) on a system which has for example a max. upload speed of 50 kilobyte per second then 25 should be okay. 25 should also be okay for most DSL connections.
but if you are using something slower (like ISDN) then you should go down to.. like... probably 5 or even less (you actually shouldn't host with ISDN or dial-up)

and be careful:
the value expected by CS2D is kiloBYTE per second.

many programs show transfer speeds in kiloBIT per second. 8 kiloBIT per second = 1 kiloBYTE per second. you shouldn't confuse those.
