Stranded II General Black Ground Black Ground
14 replies Sorry if this is not the right place, I read the bugs forums and searched. I have Gold 1.0.0.1 - 12.03.2008 and need to update ? im halfway through the game and the ground just turned black.
Thanks Try setting down the landscape settings. Thanks for responding,
I turned it down and tried turning down other settings. still black. I dont want to start over, I have got so much stuff i worked hard for.
any other ideas ? I think it happendd when I was playing and I hit ctl esc and brought up internet explorer to read the forums. came back to the game and ground was black. mmm... Save and then restart game? My advice would be to check your graphics drivers. If there's a new version, try install that. If there isn't, then try uninstalling and reinstalling the current. This worked for me on an older machine.
I do know that this is a common issue with this game and it's generally caused by incompatibility with new drivers and new graphics card. Sometimes, it's better to roll back to an older driver to restore functionality. This is particularly true of NVidia cards. Yeah if you leave the game it will sometimes turn everything black and glitch up the graphics. It is likely a graphic card issue. I have the same issue. Also reinstalling drivers sometimes helps. On my old computer the damn drivers were so buggery that you had to reinstall every month or so ... If they didnt crash by then they were glitching up and crap. The thing were you minimised the window is key to what happened, my relatively new Windows 7 Laptop also does that. I am not sure how to fix it though. You can't just save the game and load it again, because the ground is still black, right? If you absolutly don;t wanna lose ur items, write them on a piece of paper or in notepad, and then just use the Debug Menu ( the cheat thingy ) to get your items. You can access the debug menu by pressing the ~ key and then typing dm, or if you are in debug mode, my pressing F10.
EDIT: @Phytechnic ( sorry if i spelt that wrong... )
It happens with new cards and, Intel graphics. IU hate Intel graphics, it has so many bugs it can send my head through the roof sometimes! If you absolutly don;t wanna lose ur items, write them on a piece of paper or in notepad, and then just use the Debug Menu ( the cheat thingy ) to get your items.
what about his progress? its not just the items that are gonna disappear please try the newly compiled StrandedII.exe file, which is contained in complete Download for StrandedII (use regular download for StrandedII on official Website, or if using Mod S2.5 then watch thread for possible solution), there will be a couple of fixes that could solve your problems. Where I can download the source code of game, with already solved problem? I want to make some changes for my mod, but I met that problem
Blitz3D v.1.99
P.S. Sorry for my bad english If your still looking for a solution (there's like 3 pages of stuff to read through I'm not doing that >.>) Just put it into Windowed mode, It makes it smaller yeah but at least you can go freely from your internet and other stuff to your game without any black ground glitch. Hope this helps. UncagedDragon0 Can you give me a link for solution? What about Windowed Mode - I'm already thought of it. If i not found a solution, i will use a windowed mode Thanks for the answer Link to the solution? Idk, I'm messing around trying to find a resizable window thing but I'm still working on that . BUT, depending on the size of your screen (Idk mine's Fing huge though) you could go into windowed mode, click options, and go to graphics, then change it from: 800x600 to: 1024x768, and it should cover a good deal of your screen, though its considerably thinner. It makes it somewhat like a 1/2 full screen. letting you go to the internet and stuff and preventing the black ground glitch. I think this comment helps more than the other one did. (I have no cookie )
So let me know how that works out for you, and anyone else that trys it. ( yay i found one I'm happy now ) There is no fix for this problem. It's obvious that when you change windows from fullscreen, one of the files in the directory changes. If you haven't noticed, the loading screen becomes permanently black, as well.
