So I am playing fallout 3 on my laptop
the game is good but not fallout-ish feel
Anyway I play it because I found a turn based mod for it
So I installed the mod with other mods and I am playing the game and after a few minutes the game starts stutering and after that the laptop suddenly shuts down
I have tried playing in lowest setting with no mods installed and it still does that
I didn't even overclocked it
and It doesn't happens with every game actually with no other game
Virus has been checked and here are the specs
Windows Vista
Intel Pentium 4 2.57 GHZ
nVidia geforce 9xxx (dunno the exact number)
4 gigs ram
I suspect over heat but it can run other games at full settings fine
so what do you suspect and whats the solution?

1) Why the **** do you need turn based stuff in Fallout 3? I think Fallout and Fallout 2 were enough.
2) I think the mod messed up your game. Try reinstalling it.

@Vibhor:
Is your game up to date?

I need the turn based mod because I want it
its like asking why do you think you need new clothes?

And Fallout 3 mods are scripts not something that change the exe file.They are just like lua but with more features so there is no chance that the mod messed up my game

@flacko
yes my game is up to date

WTF? You play Fallout 3 on a laptop?! Go buy a new desktop computer, laptop is just a small computer that can only store a small bit of files, yes i think people should see a laptop which has more space, that cost lot of money.

Now I'm sad. I just bought BioShock and Oblivion for Vista, and neither of the work thanks to my crappy processor. It's at 1.86 GHz. I'll play 'em this weekend at my Dad's though.

Mod is absolutely right. However, I don't think space is a problem, its just how bad of graphic cards and processors the companies fit us with.

You fail!

Of course you can buy a desktop PC with awesome graphics card and awesome processor!

But this does not cost less than a laptop with awesome graphics card and awesome processor!

Not to forget that you need an extra monitor.

And not to forget how hard it is to transport it

Ok heres my report on the followind
the space is more than enough to run F3
it is total 1TB and every drive is something 300 gigs
and a laptop or a desktop wont make a difference
@pixel hunter
the game starts to stutter and after a few seconds it shuts down without even showing the shut down screen
and when I click on the power button it doesn't turns up again until I leave it for a few minutes
and BTW what does pcb console command does?

@killer mantis
My graphic card is far more superior than the one stated on the box so no change of that
oh yeah the video card is like 1GB stuff

'pcb' - purge cell buffer
frees up memory by purging the cell buffers (clearing i think)
but if simply shuts down then i dont know the problem, its pretty strange

Install aida32, see what's wrong, be done with it.
Furthermore, why do you have a laptop to game? It's better to just have a PC...
Make sure your harddisk isn't full, make sure there is enough airflow in your laptop, make sure to check for virusses, all pretty much basic things if you ask me. I've never had problems with computers, its the user that creates the problem.

I read a post in another forum that said that you have to deactivate AVG while playing.

Click start -> Run -> Type MSconfig -> Windows start (tab) -> Uncheck AVG -> Accept -> Restart
That way you will completely disable AVG.
Then Try Fallout so we can see if your antivirus is the problem.

Why the f*ck do you need to transport... a desktop?
This could easily pass for a new sig.

LOL!!!

I think I know the problem...

Like everything in your house your laptop has to be dusted every now and then... And so does a desktop computer...

My computer (laptop by the way) was playing CAC 3 Tiberium war and it started lagging constantly and bumping around after playing for a little bit... I took it, used an air pressurizer machine... opened up the bottem side of the laptop, exposing the CPU and the other parts... blew the laptop out, (was it dusty...) and put it back together again... Now I can play CAC 3 without any problems... However I would suggest getting a computer technician to do it for you... I know some basic things about computers and I know enough to clean my own laptop out, but I would not trust myself if I didn't know how... but if your going to do it yourself make sure to hold the fans from spinning as they can break from spinning too hard as you blow air through them... And don't use your lungs... you'll only get moister inside the computer which is not what you want... so just get a technician and tell him you want your computer dusted... if he don't know what you mean then he's not computer technician...

The reason that the computer laggs when its dusty is because as every computer, when it transfers data from the hardrive to the cpu and the cpu spends energy to process the data, it produces heat. Normally the heat is taken away from the cpu and expelled through a system of fans and pipes... But when those channels and fans get bogged down with dust they don't work very good, and in that way they can't carry the heat from the CPU and the rest of the computer away... When the CPU starts to overheat, it slows down, and eventually turns itself off to save itself from melting or burning out. When its being ventilated correctly it won't overheat quite so easily...

I hope that is helpful for ya.

Lion_Hearted

(PS By the way, Desktop computers are better then laptops... a laptop has to be scaled down to fit in a small container, and all the processes of a laptop also have to be slowed down because there isn't as much room to circulate the heat out of the computer... which means, the less heat, the less process, the less speed... So in an overall the laptop is worse then a desktop... but then make sure you get a good laptop, (I've used Acer and Toshiba) and you won't have soo many problems.)

The reason I have a laptop (I have a PC too but that doesnt run new games) is that I have to constantly transport it to places and stuff
And the problem aint the lags,its the lags then turn off
the lags only come when the system is about to turn off
and dust is not even present
I have a bad habit of keeping things clean and I some times
send the laptop to techs to get it cleaned
the problem doesnt persists with other games
just installed just cause 2 and it runs like some jamaican athelete without those problems and it has much more hardware req than fallout 3
I think it is fallout 3
