Stranded II General Stranded II on Windows 7/Vista - Possible fix FD god has written
Delete terrainstructure.bpm? *cough* it means you are missing the BPM , redownload the fix
I hv check the folder for a several times,I'm sure that "terrainstructure.bmp" exists in the folder"sys/gfx" .
Thanks for making this. You made happy.
Any help/idees?
My question to you is this: are you doing anything extra or special with your system? For example, I run nHancer and I know that that was causing problems with the game until I properly configured it to work with the game. I also have the issue of trying to use a PCI-express x16 2.0 card on a PCI-express x16 1.0 motherboard, and there's some incompatibility there.
In addition, I'll periodically get a crash in the game, a Memory access violation, and a little speech bubble, from the task bar, saying that the video drivers crashed and were successfully restarted.
My suggestion, if you haven't already, update your drivers. Also, try running the game with the minimum graphical options. If it doesn't crash then, increase one of the options one slot, and test again, repeat until you find a stable setup. (Because of the incompatibility between motherboard and graphics card I have to have it at near bare minimum, and I still crash periodically when there are a lot of things on the screen)
Effectively close down EVERYTHING and then unplug your computer from the internet (your going to be turning off your anti-virus and firewall...) make sure windows firewall isn't running... (i'm just saying this for xp... but it could possibly affect vista too)
In other words, make sure only your computer and stranded 2 is running nothing else but essential system things...
Then if it doesn't work... I have nothing further to add...
Anyways, I'm fairly sure their issue also has to do with nVidia's drivers.
I've also had the issue Master_Aricitic has with the drivers saying they have crashed and re-started. So like others im beginning to suspect the drivers as the main cause.
Has anyone tried rolling back drivers to see if it works any better with older drivers to see if that's the issue?

I also had the issue with crashing drivers, so I reverted all settings to minimum and started to increment each one at a time. For me, the "Light effects" option seemed to cause crashes, freezes and really strange texture artifacts. Just thought I'd share, maybe it will help someone else too.
Switching off lighting made me BSOD lol.
I've been having same issues with Stranded 2 :s Got Vista 64 bit with a Geforce 250GTX >.> so, that like 2 strikes against me But i can open and run the game fine, i go and i can play for like 5-10 minutes, but then i get that lovely Memory Access Violation.
I would agree with the source of the error being new NVIDIA graphic cards, because a while back on an older computer running the same OS, and an older GeForce, i was able to play perfectly.
So.... any solutions?
..................... So i guess i can never play Stranded again?
Umm.... How is this spam? O.o i was asking if there is a solution that might help me in playing the game- since the vista patch thing didn't fix it.

As I tried to change the resolution from 800x600 to 1600x1200 and made the restart, I wondered why the resolution is 800x600. I went to graphic-options again and saw that the resolution was 1600x1200. But thats not true. The resolution is the same as before the change. I went to menu back and:
As I changed it to a smaller resolution than 1600x1200, it worked successful.
Why doesn't work 1600x1200?
Win7 Ultimate 64-Bit
Installed memory - 4GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GS - Total Available Graphics Memory: 2047 MB
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7250 @ 2.00 GHz

maybe your video card is not fully compatible with directX 7 or vista/7 is causing the problem because of it's super bad directX 7 support.
and how i can fix this -.- well accualy how i no those are compatible?
The .exe link doesn't work for me (error cant find the page).
What do i do to fix this? I get the Unable to start due to either DirectX or GFX but have tried to update both and neither has made the slightest difference.
Help
Edit:
I managed to find the .exe by going to the official Stranded II website, clicking on News and finding it there. Thanks all!
