Even the newly released 2nd version can't reach CS2D's feet.

Do you think that about 1-2 month old game can reach CS2D's feet that was developed for about 7 years?

Well... the engine of Carnage Contest had been written several month before the release.

EDIT:
Lets say that the engine was made within 5 months and the game itself for about 3 months.
Thats 8 months vs. 84 months (if you count BlitzBasic)

I just corrected your statement. Nothing else.

Since CS2D had been rewritten from scratch, we can subtract ~50-55 months

End of July 2008
Counter-Strike 2D 0.1.0.5 (working title: CS2D Max) has been released. It's a completely re-programmed version of CS2D. This time I used the programming language BlitzMax.
It is my first project which is available for Linux and MacOS too. It also has nearly 50,000 lines of code."

however rewriting it from scratch doesn't mean that all the progress is lost. the basics, ideas and principles and most sounds and graphics are still there so I wouldn't completely ignore that time

plus the engine development of CC just took about 1 month. so it's only about 3-4 months for CC (just a very inaccurate estimation).

in comparison CS2D is a pretty large project and CC a rather small one. that's for sure!

so if your main criterion for a good game is complexity and number of features, CS2D should clearly win. However if you prefer Lua scriptable weapons or Worms style games, CC might be your favorite.
