1. Do I have to make tileset info as a cfg file or can i do it out the editor and get the same result.

2. How come on some tilesets there are lots of light and dark red tiles. Is this apart of the tileset or some kind of error?

1. No. You can go to the editor open up your tileset in the options and go to the bottom of the tiles bar and click "tile properties". Then you can go though all of your tiles and chose what tile type it is.

2. I guess the light and dark red tiles are meant to be there for misc. reasons. They are not an error.

Again, Thanks for using the unrealsoftware forums. us

to make your own tileset, what i do is copy the cfg and bmp (or is it jpg, and anyways) and just edit the bmp/jpg file. you then have to go to the editor and edit all the tiles, which is kind of annoying, there should be an option with 'load properties from other tileset' or something for the entire tileset, not just one tile.

Lol, I still got problems at making the tiles look "dynamic" or "living"...If you know what i mean.

The coloring is big problem for me, i really don`t know where should i put little big lighten tile or should it be darker o.O

Also, what is best program for maknig tiles?

Original MSPaint is good, because you can easily change color of single square...which is hard it advanced ones..

So what program is like "MSPaint - Advanced" ?

@MC180:
1: you don't need a cfg file at all. it just saves the default tile configurations so you don't need to setup the properties for each map again. you should use "save as default properties" button in the editor (tile properties) to create the cfg file.

2: the red tiles are not an error they are just placeholders. they should not be used in maps because the will probably replaced with real tile graphics later.

@Jonzku777:
try www.gimp.org or www.paint.net
you can use every program which can save bmp, jpg and/or png (I recommend bmp or png for tilesets)

What`s the thing with the tileset-cfg files?

All is see in them is this crap: [] [] [][] [] [][][] and so on..

Is there way to easily edit the cfg-file itself without wanking with the editor?

no and there is absolutely no rational reason to do that without the editor. the editor allows you to create a cfg for your tileset very easily.

Sorry to bump an old topic, but I actually have a rational reason.

I was wondering what format the info data was in, so I could allow users to set properties in my tileset creator. It would make things more convenient, as you could maintain the settings while rearranging the tiles and such.

Edit:

I had posted about this a while back. Thought I would come back and clarify things. The .inf files are just written in bytes as follows:

Wall: 1
Obstacle: 2
Wall w/o Shadow: 3
Obstacle w/o Shadow: 4
Floor - Soundless: 0
Floor - Dirt: 10
Floor - Snow: 11
Floor - Step: 12
Floor - Tile: 13
Floor - Water: 14
Floor - Metal: 15
Floor - Wood: 16
Deadly - Normal: 50
Deadly - Explosion: 51
Deadly - Toxic: 52
Deadly - Abyss: 53

That doesn't help ppl who want to quickly edit it with notepad, but I was able to add this to version 3 of my tileset creator. So if you want to modify the properties outside of the game/editor you can use my program.
