Good server computer

So you need a modern PC that's running the Dedi

Also you need your players to be as close as possible to the server.

the most important thing is a very good internet connection! never ever host a server for cs2d with a dial-up modem (56k or something) or isdn. it is far too slow. you need dsl speeds or even faster connections.

But DC...

I speedtest my connection at www.speedtest.net and I have 20 MBPS connection in my Wireless Network...

However a player from Germany got 200+ ping in my server which is hosted in the US.

So I think it's a problem with the server computer.

wireless connections are a pretty bad idea for servers!

moreover it is very normal that people from another country have a bad ping because of the distance. all messages have to be routed over several pcs which leads to a high ping. you can't fix a high ping caused by a high real world distance.

of course, if your fps are that bad, that your pc doesn't send ping signals no more, your ping gets bad. but normally your ping doesn't have anything to do with your fps!

For Example a guy, that has a 50gb/s leased line, and a really bad computer, he will have a very, very good ping, but his frames are even though bad!

Doubt anyone would waste a 50gbps line on an old computer, doubt a 50gbps is even leasable to regular consumers, plus even if it is not very many would be able to afford it.

of course i just said the extremest possible solution
even i know, that normal people don't even have the chance to get 50gb/s lines at the moment
