OK to play oniline you must get the multiplayer icon up on the stranded screen. then you go "~" and type online to it which enables you to create online maps and play them.
that is as far as i have got so far

sorry this is pure nonsense. this command just shows if you are online (connected with the internet) or not. it is not related with making or playing multiplayer maps.

open your eyes and read important threads before posting!
there is no working multiplayer mode!
