Hey, I just have this question and would like to know if what I am experiencing is normal or if there is something else.

Long story short, no one is joining my CS2D server, literally no one, sometimes they join but this is very fkn rare and idk why!

Previously, I thought the reason for this was my geographic location in Qatar, causing some lag for many players who lives far away from me. However, I changed my mind when I saw many players entering Chinese servers, even though they experience more lag there, and they play for hours sometimes.

So, can someone give me a good explanation?

Note: For those who might say that my server may not be fun and that's why no one is joining, I would agree if they had joined and played for a bit and then left without returning. But they are not even joining in the first place, so my server has not had a chance to be rated!

However, since they are not even attempting to join in the first place, then there must be another reason. Someone told me that the game is dead, which is kinda correct, but there are still many servers that are active and players are joining and playing it daily. So, it's hard to believe that none of these players have ever noticed my server or tried to join it.

CS2D is not very active nowadays, so lesser known servers don't get that many players (if any) unless they have a "click-baity" server name.

It's just modern CS2D.

What user Mami Tomoe said. There are quite a lot of empty servers in the list.

Some things you can try to make your server more attractive:

• enable cs2d cmd bot_autofill + cs2d cmd bot_keepfreeslots to let a few (like 2-4) bots join the server. It's more attractive to join a server with bots than joining an empty server because you can play without having to wait for opponents.

• try other, more popular maps

• try other or no Lua scripts

• having to download a lot of custom files before being able to play may also be a problem to some players. So you can try to have less custom files in your transfer list if possible.

@user DC: Just to let you know... I don't let my server be empty. Instead, I stay in it until a player joins, to ensure that he has someone to play with (in this case it's me). Sometimes I join my own server and then leave CS2D open and go to watch some movies or do something to pass time, and when someone joins me server, I stop whatever I'm doing and go to play with him.

+I don't host my server 24/7, I'm using CS2D dedicated.

Fair to let you know... I do not let my server be purge. Instep, I remain in it until a player joins, to guarantee that he has somebody to play with (in this case it's me). Now and then I connect my possess server and after that take off CS2D open and go to observe a few motion pictures or do something to pass time, and when somebody joins me server, I halt anything I'm doing and go to play with him
