Oh really? Well I guess he could be sued because of almost every other content that there is in that game. I mean, come on, even the background of the website is stolen from BF3, I wonder when they will get attention of that game...

Looks like I have some explaining to do. All of the sprites are used with credits and with permission. The game was partly inspired by CS2D by does not actually take any concepts from CS2D besides the top-down perspective. DC, check the comments on Disqus.

I will make this clear. I contacted DC ahead of time before publishing this game.

Now I will proceed to disembowel the controversies.

BF2D Game Summary:
GFX: Copy pasted from US files. All of them are simply stolen. + Copy pasted some "cool" main menu graphics from BF3
Some tiles are also stolen from dust tiles.
Ideas: Fucking mix of everything what doesn't work at all. This is what is gonna happen if DC will just simply add every feature in features topic
Controls are extremely un-effective. Who is even using Enter button to enter a vehicle?
Reload does not work properly at all. After pressing reload you just simply drop all your current ammo and take new magazine.
Game lags like hell on my pc.
You have to watch advertising before entering game WTF -.-
Majority of SFX are missing. Game plays like Endless war series and not like cs2d. It has endless meaningless battles between bots, while you just sit and wonder what the fuck is happening on your screen.
Just fail. This is not even a close competitor to cs2d.

This is a direct quote from the email I sent to DC:

BF2D will be open source, and therefore, free. However, it will have non-intrusive advertisements while the game is loading. The money generated will go to charity—100% of it. I will post regular screenshots of transactions to ensure transparency.

All revenue from the game will be donated to AEF, Arcadia Education Foundation. Google it. They laid off 12 teachers just from the high school last year and may lay off more.

Also, I informed DC this is not meant to be as competition. I won't reveal the details of our discussion, however.

If the game lags like hell on your computer, you need to get a new computer. I have an ATI Radeon 3100 graphics card, one of the worst "modern" graphics card in existence and the game runs fine.

I made the graphics myself, and I had the Photoshop documents to prove it. BF3's menu is no where similar to my menu design.

My final conclusion is that you have little to no experience with Battlefield, no experience with game/ user interface, and a flagrant disregard for manners.

AdFly, error messages (mainly from AdFly), stolen graphics.
Also the knife is overpowered(in last stand) and the AI often gets stuck at the spawn.

The developers sure took a lot of effort in making the game.

At least they gave credits to THREE Unrealsoftware Users for the graphics (but not DC).

I don't even think ANYONE should try to play this game since AdFly causes lots of error messages (for me, at least) and they(AdFly) also support Malware which might infect your PC.
It even simulates loading so players are forced to wait about 10 seconds and watch the ads!

It is just not worth it, buy Battlefield 2 (or 3) instead.

Yes, I'm using sprites with permission. The satchel pack is the only sprite I haven't found a replacement for. I believe that is the only one made by DC.

Adfly has a decent Web of Trust ranking, though it has been downrated by the fools who actually believe in the "free" downloads and what not. And the advertisement is less then 5 seconds, depending on how crappy your computer is. And last thing, this game is FREE and developed by a team of VOLUNTEERS, just like DC. So why are you comparing it to a professional FPS?

Really? I guess you're a professional on EA's intellectual property then? Educate me, please.

And thank you for bring the website BG to my attention. I meant to replace it 2 weeks ago, but it slipped out of my mind. It's fixed now.

If you seriously feel that this game is so terrible, give some solid reasons WHY. If you can't, try spending some time developing an game for charity. Then we can talk.

Sorry for wasting your the multiple quotes, DC. I had to address certain points specifically.

As you named me together with the others, I guess I owe you an answer.
I didn't play the game but neither did I say that your game is terrible. Just from gallery and website I could tell that there are quite a lot of graphics just taken from other places, most recognisable the background of the website, as I said already. Personally I don't give a shit and no I'm not "an intellectual from EA" but everyone with even the slightest trace of brain in the head should know, that you can't just google up/steal some GFX and use it as if they were your own. Without giving proper credits and license information it is even worse... And I don't say this to threaten you or whatever you think I'm doing but rather to tell you before the shit gets out of control. I doubt anyone on this forum would take any legal steps if you'd steal their graphics, but I'm 99% sure that big companies like EA would without any hesitation. So instead of acting like a dim-witted child, rather take it as a warning and help, because I'm quite sure that EA can and will do something, even though if you don't have any stolen graphics from them anymore, they might still be pissed because of the name alone as long as you don't have a writing from them stating that you can use that name. Because if I was you, I wouldn't want to start pissing big companies off, because they don't give a shit if you send that money to charity.

And by the way, I do know quite a lot about stuff like this, I've made several games myself and I informed myself about things like these before I published anything to the public.

Thank your for your concern. I thought I made it clear in my previous post that I acquired permission to use the sprites.

EA cannot do anything based of "Battlefield 2D." They have reserved Battlefield and Battlefield 3, etc.

I take back my previous statements about you. I've researched quite a bit on this as well. So I'm glad we can find common ground. =D I'm not that dim witted.

It's easy to say "it's crap, it sux, it's terrible" etc, wanna see those people into making a game themselves.

Indipendently from the fact if it's nice or not, as long as it's an idea to develop, it's worth of discuss.

Make negative statements, but accurate ones so that the developers will know where to focus to make their game better.

Back to the topic, my opinion is that it is in fact a nice idea, maybe it resenbles a bit of CS2D, but it got some things that are really interesting. If they had permission of using some stuff from CS2D, then let it be. I like the graphics √

My question is, is for now just a Single Player adventure or it has server list with online game as well?

Thanks for increasing the maturity level around here.

The game follows the format of CS2D, as it is one major source of inspiration, next to the original BF games, of course.

For now, the emphasis will be single player. However, you can expect multiplayer co-op in zombie/ campaign modes sometime later.

All right, will bring your idea into a discussion at PCS Project [Main European community and tournament organization]. Because i like it and all people should make so that it gets improved, not just chat around complaining about it.

I also saw from the comments that it got some bugs when game starts? You should try to find a solution to that asap. Otherwise it will bring bad image to it.

PS: Do you have any logo for the game? Would want it please

What exactly is the PCS project? A link would be nice

As for the bug, it's an issue with a DLL I'm using. I'm waiting on the programmer of the DLL to make an update, which is supposed to fix that issue.

Here is the BF2D icon:

Oh, lol the revenue is from

adf.ly

I personally don't like adfly but there aren't any better alternatives as it pays per impression. Adfly ads tend to contain scams, I suggest users to avoid clicking on the advertisements.

Never specifically said that they "are from Google".

I simply stated that finding pictures off Google doesn't make the pictures free to use. Nor from any other search engine. Nor does it make pictures free use if you take them from the official site regardless whether you credited them or not especially when you're getting money from your game.

If you're going commercial I suggest that you change practically everything, especially graphically and namewise otherwise you'll open up a whole can of legal worms. Or just stop making money from something that wasn't made completely by you.

I presume that you've gone through high school and that you're on your way through College/University. Have you taken multimedia as a subject in education? If so, can you tell me whether you've gone through the intellectual property and copyright laws, what you can and can't do part of your presumed multimedia course?

Please read the earlier posts next time, this is the last time I'm going to say this:

I, and all other members of the Battlefield 2D development team will take a single penny of revenue from the game!

All revenue is going to AEF, Arcadia Education Foundation.

And no, my school does not offer the courses you describe. However, I am literate, thank you. I have investigated into rights of intellectual property.

I have, but whether or not you're donating money, you're still earning revenue from a game who's title is similar to a commercial game that is protected by IP laws. That in itself is a soup of legal worms in a can.

The only thing I can suggest for you to do is to change the names and graphics to look somewhat like Battlefield, but enough to be considered a standalone, and not directly or indirectly tied to a preexisting commercial game.

"Warfield" for example as namesake for your project. Or you can just stop earning money (donated or otherwise), and create an offshoot project, something original that could be taking ideas from other shooters, but is an original IP in it's own right. Creating content from scratch (including the name and elements such as the graphics, audio and such from scratch within the game) would also allow you to go commercial.
