To answer your question:

CS2D Help

cs2d cmd cmd

No, it is impossible to host a CS2D server using normal webspace (or a website). You need a server with root access (or a user account with comparable rights). There are no special tricks to host a server that is online all the time! You have to rent a server for money. Sorry.

If it is a free webhost, then forget it. You will need to buy a server with SSH access, otherwise it won't be possible.

Or check if you can use 'exec' from PHP scripts, or see if you can use CGI. Usually this isn't possible.

@DannyDeth

FTPS are completely different. If you do manage to have exec or shell I doubt you can run anything from it.

Anyways even if you manage to run it off there, the speed would be extremely slow due to the type of connection it's bound to and the restrictions the free ftp may have.

Bro, 'exec' is the same as system in C, it is made to execute things, lolz. If you tried to run exec from a PHP script where is it disabled, it will give an error.

And I'm not talking about FTPS, SSH and FTPS are two completely different things! FTPS is a secure file transfer protocol while SSH is a remote shell connection protocol.

I see this:

OS/Hosting Type: Linux Shared Hosting
Sorry, you can't run a CS2D server from shared hosting, you need a root-server ( be it physical or virtual ).

Places like server4you.net and strato.de are good places to buy VPS's, they are both excellent for their prices.

I move from Linux to Windows, and I have the opportunity to spend in Dedicated Hosting, it's still not good with these settings?

What do you advise on your website? how much per month minimum?

thank you again for your help

you can use a VPS server, too.
only 8,85€ a month and enough if you only want to host some cs2d servers.
a VPS server means you share a root server with some other guys. its only a virtual machine. but it has enough power for cs2d.
if you want to host more things then only cs2d, like CS 1.6 server, some cs2d servers, teamspeak, a website,.... then you better choose a root server.
only for cs2d a VPS is enough

LOL windows, completely not recommended.

It's pretty easy to setup a server actually.

You just need to drag the dedicated server as well as the windows archive into a folder. Afterwards you just need to type 'screen /folder/to/game/cs2d_dedicated' Don't run it as root though
