Most CS2D players, fans are from Germany...
So, also most powerful & expensive servers are from Germany.
In example if hes from Australia and connects to a german server, the ping on a german server might be better then a US one. And vice - versa.
Also my server gives me a pring from about 20 and even US guys get 40 - 120. Which is quite good.
It depends on the RZ and how your server and RZ are connected to other countrys and RZ's. I guess a lot of servers are just hosted on a 2nd pc in someones living - room.
Just write down the IPs from the servers and trace them up. To see how far they are away and how fast your connection is to them.
. In CS2D version 0.1.1.6b I couldn't host any servers at all, no one could join. I find that odd. And now all the sudden I can host servers... it must be something wrong, I hope DC finds this problem that occurs between CS2D versions. Sometimes something doesn't work from previous version, then it works in new version. But next time it might not work. But I'm glad that DC updates CS2D often because the bugs needs to be eliminated.

That might be because your friends PC is to slow or his connection is worse. Or the connection from your ISP to his ISP is worse... or ... or .... alot of things.

odd is the right word for it. this doesn't make any sense because no related network code (or network code at all) has been changed from 0116 to 0117. so fact is that one time it works for you and another time not - with exactly the same code. I'm very sure that this is caused by other factors. that's the only rational explanation.

you can't compare a self-hosted server with a "professionally" hosted server! these servers have a MUCH higher bandwidth (much faster internet connection) than a normal person has at home.
normal DSL users have an upload of maybe 0,5 mbit/sec (if they have a real good DSL connection) a good server has an upload of 10 mbit/sec to 100 mbit/sec (that's a really huge difference)
The distance between Jordan and the United States on the other hand however is almost three times the distance between Jordan and Germany.
More over, some server hosters hire "special" ISPs that only work for big companies, and as far as I've been told, they are much better than "normal" ISPs (in Argentina atleast).

Never thought to get an cs2d player from jordan
Well what is your ping btw?
I use Kulacom jordan and ich I play any multiplyers i get a ping of 170-200 which is still playabble
However i have no download limits and a 2mbit line which is quite remarkable in this country
