• Hello everybody and welcome to one of the few CS2D mapmaking events! Today, me and my crew are organizing a new event for CS2D mapmakers who love to compete and win cool stuff. This event is completely based on maps, so get ready.
• This event will take place on the Mapguild Forum ( http://www.forum.mapguild.com ). All stages will take part there, aswell as the winner announcement. But enough talkin', let me explain you how this works.

> Stage 1

- In the first stage, everyone can come up with an existing map made by him/her only if map's type is found in the list of allowed map types. You can post only 1 ( one ) map that will or will not take you in the next stage. All maps that respect the rules will be added to a list among with their mapmakers' names. For more details of how to publish your map for the contest, click right here, yea here.

• Allowed Map Types : AS, CS, DE, DOM, CTF, CON, DM, KA, FY.

> Stage 2

- In the second stage, everyone will be able to vote one map from the list of qualified maps of the first stage. Each user will need an account on our forum and also it will be able to vote only once for only one map. Attention! We're supervising you! If you create multiple accounts to vote for one map, that map will be disqualified and so do you. At the end of this stage, the first 3 mapmakers with the most voted maps will go into the next stage. They will have to make a map with given files by us in one week.

> Stage 3

- In the last stage, the 3 mapmakers who got here will be given a pack with files. Using that files they must make a map with the details below. They have only one week!

• Map Type : DE ( Bomb Defusal ).
• Map Size : Maximum 100x100.
• Map Files : Only the ones given by us.

- After their maps are done, they'll have to publish them into the specific topic. Their maps have to contain all elements we gave. All 3 maps will be evaluated by me. Every detail will be pointed and nothing will be left undone. At the end of the last stage, the winner will be announced and he/she will get the prize.

> The Prize

- a poster on our events sub-forum with your map uploaded on our cloud.
- a 3 months CS2D server provided by Oxy2D.com.

• > Rules
- no multiple accounts.
- no stealing.
- no more maps per post ( only 1 allowed ).
- respect rules and deadlines.

• > Deadlines
- Stage 1 > until 25th May 2012.
- Stage 2 > 25th May 2012 - 27th May 2012.
- Stage 3 > 27th May 2012 - 4th June 2012.

The winner will be announced in maximum 1 week and a half.

Thank you,
Mapmaker.

oh yeah Agreed. Sounds cool but if 'players' vote for his map?
Anyways Maybe I'll check it

They're allowed to vote for their own map, but for example user Avo can register and vote for another map, even if he's not a mapmaker.

Also, for the first stage you don't have to make a new map, you can apply with an existing one. Only in the last stage you gotta make a brand new map.

And please don't forget to add screenshots so your map can be voted more easily.

kinda unfair, example:

A creates a map, B creates a map
both are in the 2nd cycle, A is a good friend of mine.
Now, I create multiple accounts to give B multiple votes, and his map gets disqualified.

You got me I guess.

@user Tobey Don't worry, it's not such a strict measure. We're 'examinating' every user and what he has done. Also, it would be seen preety fair if your friend's map would be ugly as fuck and it would get lots of votes. And, about your idea, it would create some confussion, since the contest takes place on our forum, I cannot just move the voting session on this one. Thanks for your suggestion anyway.

@user Yates My last map is not bigger than 100x100 and with the tileset editing, I finished it in 1 day. Now, I'm giving to everyone all the parts and they have to do the map in 7 days. I am sure that's enough time and nobody shall rush.

@user SQ It's only the style that is the same, there's a completly new forum. Also, this time is more serious.

Thank you,
Mapmaker.

What about tilesets? If I want to take part, will I have to create my won tilesets?

No. When you apply, then you apply with any map, but don't forget to check if its type is in the allowed types' list. If you make it up to the 3rd stage, you'll be given the tileset. So you only have to make the map, not its graphic parts/sounds.

@user Yates - No, but it's a tiny error which can be seen only if you look close. It's not a blend error or something really nasty. Now, if you'd play it, you'd see that it doesn't matter at all.

But contender have to add credits for tileset/sounds/sprites 's author? You should write it in rules :
" > no stealing (on 1st stage add credits for tileset/sounds/sprites and other map parts' authors if they aren't yours!)"

@user Yates I was talkin' about the error type not the error number. Also, please keep this thread clear, we're speaking here about a contest, not my small errors in maps.

@user Avo That's already a pre-defined rule. When I said no stealing, I was talkin' about everything.

Thank you,
Mapmaker.

Exactly! - And who here is the judge? You. When making maps you must pay attention to every detail, using the wrong tile in the wrong place is just a huge failure. So how should the people in the contest know you will pay attention to everything if you can't even get this right?

When I'm doing errors, I'm doing them ONLY in my maps. And indeed, I rushed a bit at my map, but it's my map. Also, I am able to fix it, just I don't really want right now.

Now, when I'm going to judge every map in the last stage, be sure that I'll pay attention to everything. And, as a note, there are more important things in a map than a wall placed incorrectly.
