I'm back. Give me half an hour to review the past few pages and answer questions.

Could you give us a 'sneak peak' ( or however you call it ) of the next change log? I prefer bug fixes to sneak peak at then updates .

It's not that interesting right now.

Hey Builder, sorry to be clogging up your thread with more hopeless posts but I just wanted to say something.

I'm not sure if you remember me, I was around when you first started MM, I just relogged in to say this. I just wanted to say, I admire you, what you've done with this game is really amazing, I remember when people were saying people could never get mining animations working and you found a way, and when all thos errors were popping up in the first MM versions and you put in all the work to fix them. Respect man

-Amritsar

Thanks.

Oh yes. Please continue developing this mod. The current version is a little bit too unbalanced to play in my opinion. But this mod is the best one. So please, continue developing. I just can't play original stranded 2, after playing with this mod. I think this is what stranded should have been.

Yeah, the version I released awhile ago is actually incredibly buggy. A lot of things I had planned to make it easier never got implemented. >.>

Jeeper has written
yeah, if you stand anywhere outside the mine and then 'use' (click E) the outside of the mine you'll find yourself somewhere inside the mine. If you enter by the door you will usually start at the ladder. The mine has one floorplan so once you know where the ladder is you can always dig yourself out. If you're in front of the lava forge, go left and then keep to the right untill you get to the ladder. Once you've gone left there are several passageways going off to the left so don't be fooled and stay to the right it is quite a way to the ladder. Good luck!

Whooops, that'll be fixed.

Is there any adventure mode for Massive Mod yet? Cause the only one I see so far is the original Stranded II adventure mode and the rest are explosive barrels.

Nope, only the default adventure for MM. Although even that needs to be changed to have the new MM items in it.

unaManu has written
In adventure mode, default adventure, first island, there are two kind of plants: the first explodes and hurts when you go close (located in the lions territory), the second smells bad (I guess) and hurts too (located where you find the wool). Are they good for something? And the bone you receive at the start, is it usefull?

Not currently.

DC has written
that's right. and for the bone: no, it has no practical use. there are several items of this type in stranded (another one would be the pearl you can find in shells for example).
however there might be maps were those items are used for quests.

Hence why one of the things on my todo list after bug fixing and balancing is to give uses to many of those items.

what can we do with oil? i cant put it in the fire and it weighs alot so is it just useless?

That is probably a bug.

so builder.......

is it posible to allow one to choose the specific difficulty for their game....meaning something like.....lets say i want to play on hard but don't want to deal with food poisoning.....or something else or wahtever.
would it be possible to make it so that u can turn off certain things like food poisoning and farming....but to keep the difficulty fair u would only be able to disable a certain number of things.....ex..on easy lets say u can disable all things but one......on medium, everything but two....on hard....everything but three...(not sure what else there is but i thing the realism things are farming, food poisoning,no fresh water on map, mabey fuel for the fire) mabey u could also add a higher difficulty that must have all of em....also for the abover to work you might need to screw around with the game start button... like making it not work until the required amount of uhhh.....realism is met for that difficulty.......

is that possible?

I'll look into it.

CPG has written
I've really been enjoying your mod and see that it is still being developed. I would like to know if it is possible to take a building or structure apart and regain some of the materials used to build it. If not could this be implemented in future versions. Basically I want to take a shelter that I don't need anymore apart to help build some new objects at another location. Could this be done?

Possibly, I'll put it on my list of things to test.

Yerica has written
Also! I was wondering a few things.

A) How does one prospect?
B) How do I make steel (the coal is described as being able to make steel but I can't figure out how n-n;)
C) Is there any use for Gold in this game?
D) What is the point of the pottery skill o0? You can't seem to make any pottery other than the bucket and bottle x3
E) How does one salt/smoke meat? It's supposed to be in a diary entry but I can't find it D8
F) Why does dry cocoa weigh more than twice as much as the cocoa fruit itself?
G) I think there might be a bug with axe breakage, it breaks WAY too often.
H) I think turtles should drop shells you can fill with water~
I) I'd really like to be able to tame more animals besides the monkeys~ Kiwi breeding is all well and good, but being able to breed them activly (maybe for more productivity?) would be fun.

Anyways! Sorry for being so long winded

LOVE THE MOD

Builder you are a code GOD!

A) Well, in the next version you can use the shovel (spade?) to right click and switch between different modes (ie; prospect for coal, prospect for gold). Your skill at prospecting determines which mode is available.
B) I don't think that is in the old version, but that is implemented already for the next version.
C) Not currently, eventually it'll be able to be smelt into coins.
D) There will be more pottery items added later.
E) Not yet implemented.
F) Probably a bug, I'll fix it.
G) It's possible, I'll look into it.
H) Good idea.
I) The issue comes from what you would do with more tamed animals.

Massive Mod doesn't work for me - I'm on Vista, and I keep getting the Memory Access Violation error. Is there any way to fix this?

I'll look into it. For whatever reason MM seems to include the old S2 exe which had that bug. There is a fixed one available on the forum. I'll try that.

Builder2-0 said,

I'm Back.

Does that mean that your gonna start working on your mod again!

I don't think I've played a mod that is as balanced and yet as fun as yours.

I find this mod wonderfully addicting. Pretty decent balance and few real issues.

Have you thought about changeing weapons so they do more damage with higher hunting skill? (i mean to lower initial damage and remove bleeding untill skill level 100 or so)

Uploading new version. Don't have a change log because 90% of the changes were made months ago, but this is what I remember off the top of my head:

-Spade removed, its function moved into shovel. Prospecting now works, based off mining skill.
-Underground springs can be found via prospecting and you can build a water pump on them.
-Water distiller can be built on fires. Collect salt water in bottles, then distill it.
-Major changes to food.
-Steel items. Make steel by using coal dust on hot iron ore.
-When a tool breaks there is a chance that either the handle will break, or the tool head. If the tool head breaks, there is a 1/5 chance it will actually be broken, otherwise it is merely dull. Sharpen it with flint.
-Many more changes I can't remember.

What I need from you are bug reports & balance issues.

Checking to see if anyone else gets this. When i try to sleep i get an error that i am too hungry / thirsty to rest now even when my bars are as low as they can be.

Found the issue. in the "Game" file in sys folder under sleep the line

if (((getplayervalue(2)>80)+(getplayervalue(3)>80))>0){

should be

if (((getplayervalue(2)<80)+(getplayervalue(3)<80))>0){

Otherwise you cannot sleep unless your hunger or thirst is greater then 80.

Also, I noticed that small rocks are turning an odd green color when i strike them with my hammer. Not sure if this is just my pc or something in game.

me,too. the rocks become green then back to normal after few seconds.

BTW, when the very first time I use "U" to collect fried meat from the grill, the meats bumps a lot!(I have not enough space at that time.) Although the real quantities I got is still a little.

There is no message when I put raw meat on the grill without fire, and no sounds when I'm BBQ.

And this time, almost any thing on the ground will disappear when couple days pass by. Such as glass bottle, clay bucket...

Yeah, I know that's carveable. But when i use a hammer to hit a tree near by, 4 rocks around also become green.

Thats probably because the area around the hammer is checked for carvable rocks each time you hit it... don't matter if you hit a stick... it will still tell you which rocks in the immediate vicinity...

Thats my theory at least...

When you say MASSIVE mod, you mean it! The mod is bigger than the original stranded II game! lol, i can't wait till i play it, its lookin' awesome from all the compliments

EDIT: i dig it, only things i don't like are the new water tex and new stone tex, makes everything so... umm.... strange.

EDIT ( yes, again ): Ok, why the heck are there maps that don't work in the single map thing? Does this mod bring a lot of peoples computers down to 5-10 fps? coz the fps has completely ruined the game for me.
>Why not make a new knife model, instead of using the models of the machete? Its not that hard to make objects and items.
>Don't hand draw icons for your items and objects, it looks a bit funny.
>The random maps are rubbish, barely anything is put on the map ( is this coz it lows fps to like 0.0000.2 fps when theres lots of objects? )

>Finally ( for now ), this mod has the most potential i have ever seen, it has plenty of objects, items and gameplay, but the crappy fps well and truly ruined it for me. ( idk if its my computer or the mod, but my computer has always kept up 30+ fps in stranded II, so im thinkin its all the stuff in MM )
But otherwise, its innovative and trend setting. By the way, i have a nice model of a knife i made a few months ago, if you want it builder, pm me

massive mod requires alot of RAM
because theres lotsa scripts running when the game runs
if you got 1 gig then you can do just fine on low
if you got less then decrease everything to low
