GMod 10 + Modding + A fan of Stranded =

Hell yes, 3d multiplayer Stranded. And what happens when someone makes a Stranded modification in a multiplayer game engine with full 3d graphics and Lua scripting? I remake Massive Mod. *cue music*

Yep, I'm remaking Massive Mod for the GMod 10 Stranded modification. Which in itself is odd.

Ya see, Stranded II is a free game. GMod 10 is a mod for Half Life 2, and the Stranded modification is a mod of that. And now Massive Mod will be a modification of THAT.

It's like a twiple-modification. With multiplayer. Of course, now I'm curious... How many people here have even heard of Gmod 10 or have it? By the way, since people are going crazy...

Re-uploaded Massive Mod at Filefront:
http://files.filefront.com/modsrar/;8573690;/filei

So yea. That about sums up my announcement. Just a quick recap here: Massive Mod being remade for Gmod 10 (due to the Stranded modification for it), I've re-uploaded Massive Mod, and I'm gonna go back to scripting. Any questions\comments?

NOTE: This really does not matter\apply to anyone unless they've got Gmod 10. So, eh. Unless of course you just wanted the Massive Mod download. I suggest someone mirror that before it goes dead.

Um, I have gmod 10, and its the reason I played this one... The Gmod 10 one sucks tbh. If only stranded II was actually made multiplayer... *sigh*. The gmod one is generally laggy, glitchy, crap, small, and so on.

If someone made a multiplaqyer mod for stradned II... it would be godlike.

I don't know what one you are talking about. The current 1.8, while small, has many of the features of Stranded. All it needs is expansion, which is exactly what Massive Mod did to Stranded II and will due to the modification. And frankly, if you've played on the Tricky's Tutorials server it's not laggy at all.

While it is *definitely* not Stranded, it is by far the closest you can get to multiplayer Stranded at this time. And I am trying to make it even MORE like Stranded.

EDIT: Just finished a quick test. I made a custom texture, and have succesfully textured part of the GUI. It now looks much more like Stranded's. And, before anyone asks, it is a *custom* texture and is not from Stranded in any way.

For those of you unfamiliar with Gmod, it is mainly a constructing\sandbox based game, and I was testing the textured GUI on the "default" Gmod map, "gm_construct". Note that the actual Stranded modification does not use any of those maps. I'm gonna work on the GUI a bit more before diving into the meat of the modification and adding in the things that made Stranded II great. Diversity. IE: Leaves, branches, logs, all of that. Not just a few resources.

It's moving along.

Well, first off, the fact that you dont have any animals lets the game down bigtime. Zombies jsut wont match up to monkies (though i see resemblance between monkies and fasties). The new thing aobut pressing e on the water in gmod is the biggest let-down, even if it is similar to the real game. The fact there is no difference between salt and sea water is another big let down, and the fact there are no premade buildings or RPG style building upgrades sucks as well... no offence but... its nothing like stranded 2.

Frankly, I prefer the fact that there are no premade buildings. Allows you to build whatever you want, as long as you have the resources. But meh. Time to address the points.

1. Animals. Yes, this is currently the *biggest* issue. I'm going to add in birds, and see aboud adding in a few other things, but honestly I don't know how the hell to add a new model\animation\ect. I'm sure someone could do it.

2. Furthermore, I'm probably going to make drinking water have a short progress bar and refill it all the way. Because honestly, who doesn't just spam the E key the second they enter water?

3. Good point. No salt\sea water difference. That would probably have to be mapped in... Normal water = Salt water poisoning, but if there is a certain func_brush over the water then it is fresh water. As such, it should be possible to fix.

4. I'm going to add in "parts" of buildings that can be created with resources, ie; corners, edges, tops, walls, floors, ceilings. But I'm not adding in "premade" buildings, atleast not a lot. Why have premade buildings when you can build something anyway you like? That was my one main gripe with Stranded II.

5. "RPG Style" upgrades. That is a good idea, and it's already implemented to a degree. It just needs to be fleshed out.

Now, I'm gonna go work on making a better texture that will not stretch.

I havnt got Gmod 10, but I've played 9. I'm hoping to get 10 soonish.
I love the idea, it sounds fantasic. My two favorite games S2 and HL come together !
As i said, no Gmod 10 atm so I can't test it .

A question, Does it have some kind of respawn system, because if its multiplayer ppl will kill each other and I dont want to have to reconnect everytime?

Yes, GMS has respawn. However, you lose any items\resources you are carrying at the time.

Which reminds me. I've been working a bit on the coding, so sooner or later the Tricky's Tutorials GMS Server should be updated with the changes.

Things I've Done But Not Yet Uploaded:
-Fixed slight bugs with Thirst\Hunger\Sleep

Things I'm Working On:
-Better descriptions\combinations\unlocks
-Better models for items
-Functions to eat most things

Things I've Completed:
-Tribes

Buggy Things:
-"Local", "Global", and "Whisper" chat.

The chat is bugged for an unknown reason. Global chat works, because that is the default GMod chat. However, the local and whisper chats I coded in only work in SP, in MP it totally breaks.

The reason? Got no clue. Which reminds me... I hate Lua.

I think you didn't understand Lizard: the Multiplayer Mode isn't working. You can run around, but ou can't do stuff, scripts won't work, and the connection breaks frequently.
It's no fun.
