wait for the rain/snow to go down,and make a fire of which bark+branch near it or hit it with 2 flints.then if it dosent,you must playing with a mod or the download was a bit currupted.

First of all, you cannot build a fire when it is raining or snowing. This is the case throughout the entire game. Every time there is a rainstorm, all your fires (campfires and torches) will go out. When the skies clear--it may take a day--you will be able to start a fire again.

There is one exception to this: You can create a torch as a tool once you have your first campfire built. To make your portable torch--the only one that won't ever go out--just stand in front of your campfire, select a stick in your inventory, and press the "use" key (often E).

You should always do this as soon as you get your fire going. You can use this torch to relight all your other campfires and your built-in-the-ground non-portable torches.

So when it rains it isn't (usually) a disaster--you just need to find something else to do until the skies turn blue [a song, a song!]

Once the rain stops, you will be able to take out your own torch and it will instantly re-light. So you don't ever have to do the bark-n-stick hassle ever again! The amazing thing about this torch is that even if you go swimming in the ocean, once you come out, you just have to pull it out of your inventory and it will be automatically lit again. Kind of like a torch that works like a flashlight, if that makes sense.

But first you need to build your initial campfire.

(1) You will need to completely finish building the campfire before you can light it.

(2) It can't be raining or snowing at the time--if it is, do something else and come back when it stops raining. It might take overnight to finish raining, that's ok, just be patient. (The game doesn't penalize you for being wet and/or cold).

(3) Then light your fire in one of two ways:

(a) if you find two flints (firestones) laying on the ground, put them both into your hand from the rucksack page, then use them (usually "E") on the firewood in your campfire. This is the easiest way and will always work the first time.

(b) if you haven't found a pair of flints, you will need to do it "the old-fashioned way." Collect a number of barks and sticks.

Then open up your inventory/rucksack. Click on both the bark and a stick. Then "use" them on the campfire. You will either see a message in red telling you to try again, or a message in green telling that you were successful.

Keep doing this, each time with one bark and one stick. If you run out of either before you are successful, just go out and collect some more. There is no set number--I've had it work on the first try and in one especially frustrating game, it took nearly 20 times before it started!

So (1) bark and (1) stick are used up each time you try to light the fire. You don't have to have each in its own inventory slot, for example, you can click on 3 bark and 24 sticks and it will still work--each time you try it will decrease so that if you aren't successful by your fourth try, you will need to go and collect more bark.

As I mentioned, immediately "use" a branch by itself to create a "torch" for yourself. You will be able to use this to light things (such as the torches you build around for nighttime lights and the occasional snail who has somehow made you mad (in a pinch, you can cook a meat with a burning snail--just don't think about it. . .)

The next time it rains or snows, all your fires, campfires and in-the-ground torches, will go out simultaneously. But with this torch you made when you first lit your campfire, you will be able to light all the torches and campfires without going through the "bark and stick" parade. Just take your torch into your hand and hit the campfire or torch. It will (eventually) light.

The best bet, I have found, is the flint stones. If you have two in your hand, you will be able to start any fire (if it isn't raining or snowing, of course) on the first try. Convenient if you like a lot of night lights!

Making your own tools and weapons and building your own buildings is very easy in Stranded ll. There are a couple of small things that might not be intuitive for all players. Hopefully this will help.

There are several ways to do things:

(1) You can have something keyed to one of your 9 available hotkeys;

(2) You can place something from your inventory/rucksack into the hand icon at the bottom of the box, then close the rucksack and "hit" something with your hand--this is how to "use" something.

(3) Sometimes you need to click on several items before you "use" them all together--to make a fire, for example, you need to click both the bark and the branch buttons, then hit the "E"(or "use") key below to start the action.

(4) If you are building a structure of some type, you will need to have your hammer in your hand, then point-click on where you want your building to be located. It will start by creating the building site. At that point, you will need to click once for every resource you add to your building site, until your project is finished.

(5) To make any weapon or tool using metal, you will need to click on all the objects you will need to complete one item, and click the button for the hammer.

To make the hammer (or most other tools) you need to click on a stone and a branch, then hit the "E" or the "Use" key. If you have the room, you will see the object now in your inventory.

The same thing for arrows/bolts/spears--but you can just keep clicking one after another to make quite a few in a short time.

In summary:

If you are trying to make something and it is not working, try another way there is to make things (that is, each item has only one way it can be made, but no one method will make everything in the game.

One last tip: before you will be able to make tools beyond the hammer, you will need to fine and to mine/quarry iron ore. Iron has three different states, and they are not interchangeable.

(1) iron ore--this is a silvery blob of stone.

(2) iron bar--once you process the iron ore, you will get one bar for each iron ore you process (by clicking on both your hammer and the iron ore).

(3) if you go this way ilater on in the game, you can further process the iron ore to make sharpened bolts. These can be used as ammunition for your arbalest.

Okay I noticed that in the s2ext mod they have unit ID's past 100. But when I tried it on my mod an error came up saying "expecting ID 1 through 100". And the it crashed does anyone know how to not make this happen?

are what the game will load up to. Just set the units one to the number of units you have made.

So long as you don't sell it or take undue credit feel free to do whatever.

Stranded is a free game and DC supports modding for it, thus the files area or whatever that lets you upload all your mods and junk.
